Grav_ItyThe 10 fics on A03 you think should have more hits
1)
Goodnight(~4K, Sanctuary, gen, Helen Magnus)
I think this is a really lovely fic and it's gone by almost unnoticed, which makes me a little sad. Magnus had her child frozen for almost a century. That's a lot of time. There are two world wars in there, many conflicts, society changed drastically. Stuff happened. I kinda thought this was something she cared about, but was a bit frightened of, something she maybe even took for granted. The relationship between Magnus and her daughter was an aspect of this show I adored, and I wanted to explore it in a slightly different way. I wanted to fill in that gap of time and the idea of it became more poignant when s2 rolled around.
2)
Homecoming (~4k, Stargate Sg-1/SGA, Sam Carter implied sam/jack)
This fic is possibly one of the best things I have ever written. Ever. It's old now and I've only surpassed it once. maybe I equaled it. I don't know I like the back half but the first part? Fuck yes. One of the few fics I can point to and say "Look. I did that, and I kicked ass."
Maybe it's just oddly resonant with me and isn't with anyone else. I dunno. But if I have ever done a fic deserving of adulation, this would probably be it. (I'd be interested to know if people agree or not). I love that she's greeted by the aliens. I love that Vala doesn't speak but Teal'c does. I love that they rally because she's one of them. I love the speculation that jack does on the future of the SGC and various characters, both main and side. it might be egotistical but I think I did a good job on this one.
3)
Gifts of the Heart (~3k, Sanctuary, Gen, Helen Magnus, James Watson, Henry Foss, Ashley Magnus)
How, in 1988, Henry Foss came to live in Helen Magnus' house, and got his name. This story flowed. The conversation between Helen and James just poured out of my head all Athena-like. I actually got my first ever award ever for this fic. If anything equals #2 (or surpasses it) on this list, this is it. But it's been all but forgotten and doesn't even have a hundred hits on a03 :(
4)
Inevitable (~3k, Stargate SG-1/SGA, Explicit, Sam/Jack)
This is one of my forever OTPs, but this is also the only smut I have written for them. I thought it okay, but it wasn't even a blip on the radar of most people, alas. Maybe it was because it dealt with Sam as the commander of Atlantis, dealing with people in her command dying. I dunno.
5)
More Issues than National Geographic (~4k, Sanctuary, Ashley Magnus/Henry Foss)
I wanted to write how friendship could become something else. I wanted to write stuff with this pairing. I cannot just jump in to relationships if there isn't a body of work. Also there was a lot of "Ewwww" reaction to this pair. I needed to write that step for the hypothetical audience if they were going to follow me into any shippyness. anyway, I think it's a great fic. I think I nailed their voices. It's my "try this pairing, you might like it" fic. Therefore, try it ;) you might like it. It's not overly shippy as the characters are just discovering it themselves.
6)
Communication (~9k, Sanctuary, Ashley Magnus/Henry Foss (explicit))
Aside from this being the shippy fic I wanted to write, there is a lot of character in this that I am really proud of. I think I have the voices and personalities down. I adore the argument they have. I really do. I think they missed something by not having it on the show, because it's a great moment of growth for both characters (insert rant here). But I think it's a fantastic discussion. Also there is smut. and awkward "what did we just do?" discussion.
7)
Wireless (~3k, SGA, Weir/Sheppard - Explicit)
This was for a thon challenge and I was a backup writer for
lone_pyramid who wanted Phone sex (i.e. headset/radio sex). established relationship. reasonably happy ending. *g*. Oh man. This was one of those fics that wrote themselves. I love her writing and I wanted to give her an awesome fic and it turns out the prompt was just delicious. Oddly, it is one of my favorite fics I did for this pairing - even beyond the big world buildy ones. I love the tension and conflict and how delightfully teasing it is. I love that John's the once talking in this, and Elizabeth is usually the talker.
8)
Pathfinder (37k, Sanctuary, Character piece with shipping in, Ashley Magnus, Henry Foss, Biggie, Helen Magnus)
Big Henry Backstory piece. There is fucking awesome world building in here. He goes on a vision quest with Biggie. There are hidden agendas lurking in the shadows and implied threats and things Lurking. one of my most favorite OCs I have ever written shows up in the last two pages (since there are many who are allergic to OCs, fear not they're side characters because a given world doesn't only have five people in it. How boring) It ends on an intriguing note. Maybe because it's 30k, no one reads it.
9)
Walk on the Wild side" (~4k, Sanctuary, Ashley/Henry, Kinkiest thing you might read today)
[insert rant in here about vanilla fandoms and people getting their panties in a twist about "bestiality" when they are talking about thinking-reasoning non-humans like werewolves or Sasquatches, (except vampires, which apparently get a pass because they are sexy - even if in the more classic style of vampire, Newsflash! that's Necrophilia if you wanna get down to it.) and totally forgetting (or also giving a pass) to: Elves, Vulcans, Klingons, Romulans, Hobbits, Demons, orcs and Fae and various and other sundry races. (probably because they are "pretty"...and yet a saw a flippant demotivational on someone's LJ referencing "Avatar" and calling that "bestiality" too, yet the blue cat people aren't anything you wouldn't see in Anime.)]
I was annoyed and offended by the hypocracy of people getting their panties in a twist about a werewolf that clearly was still a thinking, rational person (that still was even humanoid if however monstrous), when they didn't have a problem with a vampire, or a mermaid, or an elf, or a Klingon. Also, I was on a lot of nyquil and easily suggestible, so I gave in to the annoyance and fucking wrote the fic. I dared people to read it. Some did. That was brave and they moved out of their comfort zone to do it. This fic is usually in the top 5 hitwise on my a03. I find that vastly and wildly amusing. no one comments, but the hits are there.
10) I don't know I have a tenth one. :(
Suggest one for me? *shrug* :D
