The weekend of Sept. 15, Xenosaga III

Well, I usually don't mention it, but since I spent most of the weekend sick as heck, and really didn't enjoy myself I figured it wouldn't be a problem to let everyone know I'm going to celebrate my Sept. 15th birthday in October this year. There's just no time between now and then to get together with friends and have any fun.

About the only thing I did accomplish (if you can consider it an accomplishment) is I completed Xenosaga III, with only one death, within 45 hours of actual play time.

And I'm still unsettled by the ending.

As many of my friends know, I rate Anime by the following informal measurments:

  • Angst: Bonus points for little kids and angst... Double points for little kids in a war and angst... (Xenosaga III: Check BIG TIME)
  • Main Character Death (related to Angst): Lets put it this way, Xenosaga III's ending leaves no doubt about the body count at the end of the game. Bastards. The only thing that sucked? Lack of blood! If your really that beat up, then hell you have to be bleading like a suck pig... (Please note, Lord of the Flies reference), but NO, damn American censoring to get a better youth rating for the game...
  • Continuation / Cliff Hanger: While in Anime there is seldom a chance to see future events in most anime as they are one off events, at least leaving a small path for future development of the characters if possible. Well Xenosaga III did do this, but they did it in the most unimaginable way. They had what was left of the main characters split up, one group sailing off into space on a mission with no chance of success. Can you say unfufilling?

So anyways, based on what happened, and the game itself Xenosaga III was more then worth the time and money spent. It was also one hell of a good ride, all the way up to the end. But with the end now here, I'm left wishing for just one more... Just like aways.

This series of games had so much potentual, but was cut short in its prime because it couldn't do one thing: Figure out how to fight against the Final Fantasy series. Me personally, I think Xenosaga had much more potential to go so much further then Final Fantasy ever could, if only the egos could step out of the way in development and marketing could have gone on a full all out blitz, including a feature film.

That said even though people have hopes that sales will be high enough to convince Bandai/Namco Games that there is money in the series to continue with, I believe our only hope of ever seeing another Xenosaga game is for someone to buy the license to the series, and go all out.

Anyone else interested in forming a Gaming Company?
