THEY USE IT TO OVERPOWER THEIR OWNERS

Researchers at the University of Sussex have discovered that cats use a "soliciting purr" to overpower their owners.

"Just you try and overpower me with high-frequency sound, Olly Cat! Just you try it. I'll- I'll deck you, I will. You know I'm capable of it."

Olly Cat seemed nonplussed, and just a little pitying, but didn't look over from where he was busily tinkering with dials and panels of lights and plastic mice and elastic bands. "Will you now. Perhaps you might be too busy putting biscuits in my bowl to *ahem* 'deck me'." he suggested blandly, "Or perhaps you might be too preoccupied with scratch-scratch-scratching behind my little ears to engage in fisticuffs." He yawned. "Just a suggestion. Best to think all the possibilities through before we go throwing flimsy threats around, eh."
