Panic at the Disco
Auckland City
Vector Arena
30th August / Mr. Ross' Birthday(;
Okay; so this is my review of Panic at the Disco live at the Vector Arena, on the 30th of August 2008.

After seeing Brendon & Jon on Friday, Anna electrumqueen and I drove down to the Vector Arena to see if the rumor of people camping over night was true. It was.

Six or seven people had been camping at the Vector Arena since 8am Thursday morning.

Myself, Anna & Charlotte (not a member of LJ) arrived at the Vector at around 3:30pm, (the doors were to open 7p.m) Apparently, Anna & I were mini famous, as news had spread that we had met Bren & Jon the day before. There were about fifty people in the line ahead of us, so we took our spots and waited patiently.
However, pushy people at the front ended up having the security MOVE the damn line into three different places.  We had to move each time with the threat of "If you don't move back then we won't open these doors."

Eventually, though, we managed to get into a line. There we made new friends Lilly and Sarah (made of win you guys were) and laxed out for about an hour. At around five o'clock a voice comes over the speaker:

"Hello and welcome to the Vector Arena; our show tonight is Panic at the Disco. We are to inform you that no glow sticks will be allowed in the Arena tonight. Thank you."

Now; I had about a hundred mini glow sticks with me. So, well, we kind of handed them out down the line to anyone who was waiting. They got pretty far. We stuck some down our boots/pants/shirts to smuggle them into the concert.

Then Sally rocks up, and the line that runs across the road and down the street doesn't bother her. She pushes through and comes to stand by us saying "I'm just here to see some girls." So we tell her about Merch, and she runs off to go buy me some (my god I love her) She comes back a half an hour before the show is about to start and casually jumps around the metal fence with $300 worth of Panic at the Disco Merchandise. (I flailed and clapped delightedly,)

Then Jermaine from C4 shows up. We don't like him, so we ignored most of that. He talked to some teenies who were screaming stupidly to be on TV.

Then Zack appears; and he recognises us from Friday night, and he comes over and hi-fives us.

We laughed and told him he was awesome. Then the doors open & we're on our way in.

So we run in, get told off for running (haha) and skip to the stage. We start off three rows back from the front.

& this is the line up:
Kiss Goodbye
Cobra Starship
The Academy Is
Panic at the Disco

Kiss Goodbye are a bunch of fifteen/sixteen year old boys from Tauranga, NZ, that Panic picked to help open for them. Their original songs were okay; but their cover of Umbrella by Rihanna was actually quite good. They played three songs all up, and looked okay-ish as  band.

Then Cobra came on. Gabe fucking Saporta is awesome. Every second word was 'fuck' he jumped onto the drum kit and then got pushed away (LOL) and started complaining:

"I can't have new toys because I fucking break everything. That's why I'm not allowed on the drums because i'm told I'll break them. It's not my fucking fault I can't look after things. I want some new fucking toys damnit but no, I fucking break them so I'm not allowed them." - Made of awesome is that guy.

He took off his jacket, pulled up his "PARTY NAKED" shirt, ran his hand along his body and down his crotch. Ugh.

Vicky-T was in a sling, and everyone was all 'aw' because she'd been in a car accident the night before, but had come into the lobby of the hotel saying "I'm ready to celebrate Ryan's 22nd Birthday!" Oh how I love her.
-Unfortunately I have no good pics of Cobra.

Then the Academy came on, and oh my gosh.  William Beckett made my heart sing. He was awesome. He sung so well too.

My computer is being bummish and won't let me upload pics of the Academy, so I will do so under a cut tomorrow: I promises (:

Then. Well. Omfg. The lights went out, it was black, (only the people near the front coulds see the boys' silhouettes against the black backdrop) and then We're So Starving started playing; the lights went on and shit. Can I just say the Vector arena almost fell apart with the screams? Seriously. Just. shit. I swear there were some teenies who cried.

They went straight into Nine In The Afternoon & every single person started singing. Honestly. It was amazing. Then Bren is all "Hello we're Panic at the Disco," and so on and they start playing But It's Better If You Do. To the ones who loved A Fever You Can't Sweat Out this made their day. The screaming and the singing was just wow. Then they played Camisado and once they'd done that, they paused, & Brendon spots the girl with the MARRY ME BRENDON URIE sign.

Ryan: "I don't think Brendon is ready for commitment."
Brendon: "Hmm. Yea. You're right. Thanks for the offer. You're cute though."

Then he spost our sign which sports B-DEN & JON WERE EPIC YESTERDAY!  (Because we met them -see post below)

Brendon: "I've only just noticed that sign."
Ryan: "Are those the girls you talked about last night?"
Brendon: "Yea, from C4," -smiles and waves- "We appreciated it guys."

We were mini-famous. It was awesome.

Then, cue Jon and Brendon getting the crowd to sing Happy Birthday to Ryan and Spencer. Ryan managed to look sophisticatingly embarassed but grateful, and Spencer was all smiles while Brendon drank his beer and grinned for all he was worth.

Then they went through She's A Handsome Woman, and Behind The Sea - dedicating that song to us because they're envious of how much we get to see the ocean.

Then came the bit where Ryan kind of stumped us with his relationship with Keltie. (Tbh, they're adorables)

Ryan: "So how many of you are single tonight? Raise your hands!"
The whole fucking arena raises their hands.
Ryan: -sighs- "Yea." -puts his hand up.
Brendon: -stops mucking about by Spencer and shoots an undescribable look at Ryan; that only those who knew what Ryden meant would get-
Ryan: "well, this song is for all you single people out there."
Brendon: -silence; looking hard at Ryan-
Ryan: "It's called Lying is the most fun a girl can have without taking her clothes off."

The song plays, and is amazing. I will never forget that look that Brendon gave Ryan. Omfg. Never ever.

Then they go through I Constantly Thank God For Esteban, That Green Gentleman, These Tables are Numbered For a Reason Honey, You Just Haven't Though Of It Yet, I Have Friends In Holy Places.

Ryan: "So, we're been trying to get this to happen since the beginning of the tour. We want Noise Control to be called. So, I've got your bail. We any of you go to jail I've got your backs. I'll cover your bail."
Jon: "What if you're in jail, too?"
Ryan: "Oh. Well. You've got their backs, right Jon?"
Jon: -blinks- "Sure." -I love him.
Ryan: So I want to hear you make some noise Auckland; to....

And then. Well. You guessed it. I Write Sins Not Tragedies.

The Audience screams WHORE and Brendon goes, "Hmm, how delicious." He makes me laugh sometimes. God I love him.

Then the band take a break, and the idiots in the crowd start screaming ENCORE. Even though the band has gone to breathe and wipe the sweat from their faces. Honestly people, give them at least a minutes rest. So then Brendon comes back by himself to sing Time To Dance in Acoustic. And he's amazing. I have this on video and will be putting it up here. But my comp is being bummish and will not allow me to atm.

Then Ryan, Jon & Spence come back out and play Pas De Cheval which gets everyone dancing, and Bren & Ry go Guitar Hero on each other, making faces and dipping and battling it out center stage. They radiate awesome.

And then sadly, it is the last song, Mad As Rabbits. The crowd goes all out, screams as loud as possible and sings along to every words. The front goes crazy at the chorus and Brendon is leaping around like he does. Jon has been rocking the whole night like he does and doesn't dissapoint in this song. The glow sticks distributed from earlier are being thrown all out through the Arena, and we laugh because we had them first.

Then Panic are saying goodbye and Ryan is waving and it's over. Brendon throws his drink bottle into the crowd. Which, I am proud to say, my friend Laila got. Some girl tried to take it from her, so Laila (being awesome) bit her to keep it. You're just made of awesome dear (: Spencer throws his drumsticks into the crowd, and the girl who had "HAPPY BDAY RYAN" done in VIVID on her chest got one; so she was totally hyped.

All in all it was a magnificent concert, and they all flew out this morning (Cobra & TAI are headed for Japan, and Panic are to be back in the US for a show in two weeks time) and I can't wait to have them back. .

Brillant show, all in all(:
