Every year I forget how much I love wrapping presents. I don't wrap enough for birthdays to really remember, aside from the fact that I don't have the proper materials to do the same justice to birthday presents as I do to Christmas presents. I wrapped a bunch of presents last weekend, when I first bought them, but today I got into it. I bought another two rolls of wrapping paper (after mine were all gone) and pulled out my ribbon. And before I kenw it, there went a few hours of my life, blissfully spent in a carefree mood.
I think wrapping presents, putting them in a big pile and seeing everyone else's piles of wrapped presents is the best part of the season. Baking is fun, but too much work sometimes. Decorating is something I don't really care about at all. But wrapping presents, my goodness that's a gift in and of itself. They're like little sculptures made of papers, ribbons and bows!
But then, I'm a dork.
The bad thing about it this year is that halfway through I ran out of regular scotch tape. No big deal because I've got a lot of packing tape, which is also clear (I'm picky about what the tape on my presents looks like) and works rather well. Unfortunately it's a lot stronger and stickier than regular scotch tape so my habit of holding a piece of tape on my lower lip turned a bit disastrous earlier. There's a quaint little divut there now. I'm more disturbed that my skin tore away that easily, but hey, I suppose it happens. Or theoretically could.
In other news, I called the juror hotline this weekend to see what I have to do when I show up for duty on Monday. Turns out they don't need me anymore. Which puts me in a bit of a moral dilemma: do I stay home as planned and not tell my employer that I didn't actually have to go to jury duty and earn my daily wages anyway? do I stay home, but tell my employer not to give me my daily wages? or do I go to work and earn my daily wages? I'm really perplexed, so feel free to leave advice.
Kevin should be boarding his plane right about now. He'll be back in Colorado tonight around 6:30pm and down here in Boulder in three sleeps! I'm excited, can you tell?
Now I must go be creative and wrap more presents. And work on scrapbooking. And maybe make some jewelry. And maybe work on cleaning the living room a bit. Yes, I love being productive. Mmmm.
