So I know I just posted on Monday, but this awesomeness must be documented and shared with all.
Okay, so I already said something about how the 6th was 6 months since Matt and I got together. It's a big deal for me (see: 5 month curse), but as he'd previously been in a 3 year relationship, it didn't have the same magnitude for him. Which was really fine. We'd talked briefly about doing something on the 4th to celebrate, but that was Super Bowl Sunday... and really, we went shopping and watched football. That's a pretty awesome day for me.
Tuesdays are my busy days, so I was on campus until like 7:30 or so. I'd sent a couple text messages Matt's way earlier in the day but he was really busy and couldn't talk. We don't text every second like some couples, but we do occasionally. Whilst waiting in the subway station with Caitlin, Christian, and Kayla, Taryn called me and asked when I'd be home because she was making dinner. I told her soon but not to make anything for me because I wasn't hungry.
We acquired Maddee when we got to Ellsworth and then proceeded to walk home, the whole lot of us laughing and talking loudly and walking quickly to get out of the cold. I was not the first person to get in the door, but when I walked in I immediately peeked in the living room to say hello to Taryn. Instead of Taryn making dinner, Matt was there, looking all spiffy in a suit and everything. I was soooo surprised!! I had no idea that he was coming up at all.
He told me to go get ready because he was taking me out to dinner to celebrate our 6 monthiversary! He had also got me a dozen red roses and had already put them in water in a vase in my room. It was so freakin cute... seriously. I am still overwhelmed. So I showered quickly and got ready as quickly as possible and then we headed out. We both looked so good!!
We went to McCormick & Schmick's, this really nice seafood restaurant right across from City Hall heading south. I've walked past that place a billion times and always glance at the people inside, so it was really cool to actually be sitting behind the window! They had, unbeknownst to us, decided to hold out their Restaurant Week specials because of the Auto Show so we took advantage of that. We tried a bunch of stuff we normally wouldn't have and had just a great time. It was so nice... it's just like somehow he knew that I've always wanted to be surprised by something like that and that I LOVE getting all dressed up and going somewhere really nice (especially since I've gotten over the fear of looking like an idiot at fancy restaurants).
It was so great.... I can't even express just how amazing it was. I love him so much... I am not saying that I've been in the most terrible of relationship previous to this one, but... he is just so wonderful. I'm sorry to be all gushy and gross and stuff, but bear with me -- it is close to Valentine's Day and it's not like I've had a gushy V-Day post before. So there!
I'm in such a good mood =0)
I do feel slightly bad, though. I told Kaitlin-at-work all about it and she just broke up with her longterm thang and I kinda felt like I was rubbing it in her face... also, I called my mom and told her and she was really happy for me and said so... but I couldn't help thinking the whole time that my dad never does anything nice for her. He occasionally remembers big things but never puts much thought into it. My mom deserves so much more. But really... everyone deserves to be treated the way Matt treats me.
Oh well. Life is still fantastic. It may be subarctic outside, I may be well below the poverty line, I may still not have my AC adapter, I may have another court date to look forward to, I may be gaining wait and breaking out... but dammit, life is fantastic. =0)
6 monthiversary,
