I'm learning Catalan too and I'm a native English speaker, so I don't really need help with that!

As fascinating as I'm sure Québécois French must be, I don't really want to take on another language just now (especially as, living here in Catalunya, I'm already having to learn two languages!)

However, if you want to practice Catalan, let me know and I can add you to msn, exchange e-mails etc. I've only been here since last April but I'm doing classes and my husband and his family are Catalan, so I get plenty of practice and native speaker correction!

Er, sorry if that seems a bit wanky, correcting you the first time I even comment.

I think I'm just inordinately proud of having mastered at least one verb tense.
The only other language I've ever learned before now was Mandarin, which doesn't conjugate verbs, so you can imagine what a kick in the teeth Romance verb tenses have been for me!

Also, if you are coming to Barcelona, you might want to pick up a few phrases of Spanish as well because, unfortunately, there are lots of people here who can't/don't speak Catalan. :S

Jo parlo castellà des de infància més em plauría molt poder millorar el meu coneiximent de catalá. Ho vaig estudiar un any només fa ja vint anys amb un professor qui era monjo de Montserrat. Però visc en un lloc on no coneixo ni una persona qui ho sap parlar. Si algú en aquest fòrum em podria ajudar, seria ben acollit.
