Summary: Arrow convinces Jake to come back, and JC gives birth to their child.
JT hurridley pushed the wheelchair down the hallway of the hospital. " Your doing great sweetie just keep breathing." he told JC who was trying with all his strength not to break down and cry from all the pain. " OWWW!" He screamed and gripped his mother's hand tighter.
JT looked up at Rock, a worried look on his face. Rock just sighed and kept walking. They finally got up to the front desk and checked in. " Name sir." The secretary asked Rock. " Brendon Mullaney." He told her. " alright and your wife's name?" " oh, um it's not my wife this time it's my son."
" Alright, then I'll need his name and the father's name." Rock looked back at JT trying to comfort JC. suddenly anger began to well up in him. " The father's name is Jake Taggart, but he won't be here." The secretary frowned. " I'm sorry to hear that." she said looking over at poor JC.
" It happens to alot of youngsters." Rock frowned and cupped a hand to his face. The secretary looked back at him again. " sir, I'll need your son's name as well." " It's JC Mullaney." he said trying not to cry, fearing for his child. The secretary gave him a simpathetic smile.
" Well, weve got a labor room ready for him just down the hall." she told Rock. " Thank you mam." he replied and went back to JT. " love, theve got a room for him down the hallway." " Alright, lets go." JT wheeled JC down the hallway to the room., but then they were stopped by a doctor.
" You two know the rules, only the mother and father are aloud back here until the baby is born." JT gave him a furious look. " Look, The father is an inconsiderate irresponsible bastard that took off and left! so I'm going to go in there with my son weither you like it or not!" Rock gulped, he knew what sort of things happened when JT got angry.
JC was trying to keep a straight face, all the while moaning and whimpering in pain. " Alright, Alright, go on in." JT started to go into the room but JC stoped him. " Mom I don't want dad in here." JT nodded. " alright, I understand, Rock go sit with Rafe and Ann, I'll come get you when its over."
Rock sighed and kissed his cheek. " I Love you." he whispered and then reached down to stroke JC's hair. " be strong son, It'll be alright." JT kissed him and he went back down the hallway to the waiting room. " Alright, let's get you in bed." JT said, wheeling JC into the room and helping him into a hospital gown.
JC moaned, feeling a contraction starting again. "OWWWWW! MOM!" he screamed reaching for JT's hand. JT took it and began to rub his back. " hush baby, screaming makes it worse, just try and relax alright." JC moaned, clinging tight to JT's hand. " mom it hurts."
JT sighed and pressed a kiss to his forehead. " I Know honey, I know, The first ones always the hardest." JC wrapped an arm around his stomach and began to cry. " Mom, I want Jake here." he whimpered. JT sighed. " Arrow's getting him honey." he reassured him.
" No, I want him here now!" JC shouted as the pain of the contraction intensified. JT rubbed his back and spoke gently to him, the same way that rock had always spoken to him while he labored with their children. He hated to listen to JC being in so much pain. and in the back of his mind he wished that Jake was here to support JC. He looked back to the door. " Where are you Jake?".........
Meanwhile, Arrow pulled back on his horse when he reached the Taggart's farm on the outskirts of town. "stay here boy." he told his horse as he hitched him to the corral fence.He sighed and walked up the steps and knocked on the door. The door opened and there stood Luke Taggart.
' howdy Arrow." he greeted him. " howdy Luke,... is Jake home?" Luke sighed and nodded. " he's here, he's up in his room." Luke stepped out of the way and let Arrow in. " I suppose you've come to take him back, is that right?" Luke asked. Arrow nodded. " sorry Luke, but it's gotta be done."
" I know,... I was actually gonna bring him back myself if nobody came after him." He sighed. " you can go get him if ya want to, I wont stop ya." Arrow nodded and walked up the stairs to Jake's room. " Jake?" he called to his friend. " are you up here?" Jake lifted his head up from his bed.
" Arrow? what are you doing here?" he asked confused. Arrow walked over to him and sat down. " Jake listen to me, I was hired by Mr. Mullaney to bring you back." Jake's eyes got wide and he shook his head. " No Arrow don't, please I'm begging you!" He pleaded.
Arrow sighed. " Jake, I know that you don't wanna go back cause you don't wanna be a father, but ya know what? you need to stop thinking about yourself and start thinking about JC. He's alot younger than you and now he's gona miss out on the rest of his childhood because you were to much of a dumbass to use a condom." Arrow got an angry look when Jake didn't respond. " and ya know what else?"
" What?" Jake asked, a bit irritated now. " I Think your turning out to be just like your father." Arrow told him, hate and discust in his voice. Jake suddenly stood up and pinned arrow against the wall. " I AM NOTHING LIKE HIM!" He yelled at Arrow. Arrow pushed him back and he fell to the floor.
" You sure about that Jake? Cause he did the same damned thing before you were born, He didn't want anything to do with you Jake! but your uncle made him come back!" Jake looked down at the floor. That had done it, Arrow couldn't see it but that had broken his heart.
" My dad.... didn't want me?" he asked, sadness in his voice. Arrow didn't want to hurt Jake but it was the only thing working at this point. " No Jake, he didn't! Infact I really don't think your mother did either, he tried to get an abortion before he had you." tears were welling up in Jake's eyes.
" Shut up Arrow! you don't know anything about that!" he wiped a tear away from his cheek. Arrow sighed. "It hurts don't it Jake, knowing your parent's never wanted you?" Jake nodded slowly. Arow helped him up. " You don't want your kid to feel that way do ya?" Jake sighed and shook his head. " No" he said..... I'll come back."
Meanwhile.....
"AHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH!" JC screamed. The doctor looked up at him. " your doing great JC keep pushing." " No I cant! I can't do it!" he cried in pain. JT stroked his hair. " your nearly there honey, just a few more times and it'll be over." JC shook his head. " No more! please god no more!" he screamed, bearing down without even meaning to.
" Good work JC." The doctor told him, grabbing a towel and holding it to the baby's head. JC suddenly screamed. "owwww!owwwwww! owwwwww! Oh god mom please pull it out!" " shh, hush baby it's okay, I can see her head." The doctor smiled. " She's almost out, JC.'"
" Get the god damned thing out of me!" He screamed. " The doctor smiled. " this is it, she's comin. give me one more big push JC." JC took in a breath and beared down as hard as his body would allow him. JT looked over his leg and smiled. " Oh honey keep goin she's almost out."
" AHHHHHHHH!" JC screamed. " harder JC." The doctor told him. " AHHHHHHHHHHH!" he screamed, gripping JT's hand. " come on, give it everything youve got!" " AHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH!!!!!!!!!!!" He screamed and then fell back into his mothers arms as the pain finally subsided for good. The doctor smiled and lifted up a tiny little blonde haired baby. congratulations..."
" It's a little girl."....
