Kew's Illuminated Trail

So, Kew has this Illuminated Trail night event at the moment, which is a little bit cool. And also suggests that the designers may have been taking some interesting substances :)

leathellin, hearthfire and I went round it last night it in the dark, going 'ooh' at all the lit-up trees (I particularly liked the tall piney thing where the bark was lit up orange and the canopy was lit up blue) and lanterns.

There were also patterns projected onto hedges, and onto the path, and some crazymad 'plant whisperer' theme for children, that provided occasional interesting noises or interactive activities. Such as the three illuminated hula
hoops floating on the lake, where if you threw a marble into one it went GLOOP.

The absolute highlight was a garden of fire, which was basically a small field of knee-high torches, with occasional additions of incense, which we stood and stared at for... some time. The flashing disco lights inside the palm house were also interesting, throwing the shadows of the tropical plants against the glass.

By the time we got back to the little market at the gate, all the children had cleared away and the carousel was just sitting there, almost empty...

...see leathellin for incriminating photos :)
