I've gotta say, the S282 (Astronomy) course certainly gives you your money's worth.

Tonight alone I have calculated estimates of things varying from the number of hydrogen and helium atoms in the sun to the fraction of the solar mass lost each year to the solar wind (based on its speed and density as measured from Earth) to the number of photospheric photons required to carry away the energy of one set of ppI chain reactions (starting with estimating the most common energy of photospheric photons from the temperature of the photosphere).

My brain, it is now the finest Swiss cheese.

On the bright side, learning about Babcock's theory of how the polarity of the sun's magnetic field flips every sunspot cycle was fascinating.
