An Entry In Two Parts:
Great night. Went to see Foo Fighters/Weezer/Hot Hot Heat, and it was fabulous. I love Hot Hot Heat. Lovelovelovelove. And they were so good, and they played all my favorite songs, and I called Katie and had her listen to 'You Owe Me An I.O.U.' because I know that's her favorite. And she was all giggly. (I think. I only heard her say about three words. It was loud at the rock concert, believe it or not.) And Weezer is Weezer, and so, good. I didn't recognize Rivers at first, because he didn't have his Buddy Holly glasses on... They played all their hits as well, and ended with Buddy Holly, and a butt got dropped on my head while some feet got dropped on Susan's, and it was good times. And then, after a 30+ minute set change, out comes Foo. Gah. I love Dave Grohl so damn much. (I have his half-creepy, half-adorable Entertainment Weekly picture next to me. So scruffy. Aw.) And he swore a lot, and talked about the Dropkick Murpheys, and sang 'Everlong' to his mother-in-law for her birthday, because she was there. And when they left, we screamed for an encore, because that's what you do at rock concerts. And so they came back out and he chugged a Coors. Now, Coors = suck. Coors + Dave Grohl = yay! (I don't know either. Rock star math. That's what I should have taken in high school.) They played 'Breakout'! I love that song! I miss that song... *finds song* I love my iTunes.
We met this nice guy, Matt, who stayed with us for all of Weezer and Foo Fighters, and saved us from the mosh pits and tried to save us from the crowd surfers, but didn't do so well with that part. I'm sad, because I think that's the first concert where I didn't buy a shirt, but the cheapest I saw was $20, and the line was ungodly. And, really, I couldn't feel my feet.
Okay, now, to move backwards in time. I couldn't not talk about the concert first. But. So it's been raining for about a year now. (Kiri said 8 days, and I'm going to go by her numbers.) And there was flooding and lightning last night, which resulted in all of campus loosing power, and - in theory - our fire alarm going off. At 4:45 am. In the pouring rain. We had all of Maywood Hall shoved into the little mini-lobby between the two sets of doors at the entrance, and under the small overhang bit right outside the door. They shut off the alarm four times before it took, and then we finally got to go back to bed. I was going to have brunch with Rachel at noon... So she called me at 5 after, wondering where I was. Still asleep, cause we still had no power in Maywood. And we continued to have no power, as the other dorms got it back and lost it and got it back and lost it. However - we had hot water. So I took a shower using only the one tiny flashlight in the entire suite sitting in the middle of the floor. Could not see a thing. (For the record - bathrooms in Maywood have no windows.) We finally got power back just as the four of us headed off to the mall because Amber needed to shop because her boyfriend is coming to visit in two weeks. So we hit up the Halloween store and then spent an hour in Victoria Secret and the lingeree part of JC Penney. Good times again. We came back, I headed off to the concert, and they waited around for a freshman from the cross country team to show up so they could humiliate them. Saturdays.
