Argh!!!
I'm having this problem lately where I can only go back 40 entries in my friends page - is this happening to anyone else? It was a huge problem yesterday when I finally fully caught up and had to go to each person's individual journal to see if I'd missed anything between December 18th and 20th (just for the record, I had of course heavily skimmed everything since that date, just not read everything completely). It's really annoying!!
