Nothing ever changed. The sea breezes of evening smelled just as salty as always. The days were still warm and the nights comfortable. The people went about their daily business, and all was peaceful. The kids went to school. There was homework. And catchup to do.
About the only thing that changed at all was that the leaning palm's bark got just a little smoother in certain places. Just like it always did through the years.
Riku sat on the leaning palm, waiting for Sora. Sure, the Islands hadn't changed. But their lives sure had.
