Shivers

At first it hadn’t bothered him too much. Ed had never been good at sitting still, and even if he *was* absorbed in a book, he would move a little from time to time. However, as Al’s eyes wandered once again from his own page to the couch holding the jittery form of his older brother, he had to admit it was getting a tad annoying. Still, the others didn’t seem to mind, so Al determinedly turned his head back to the page before him.

Then Ed sighed.

“Niisan, what is wrong with you?” Al asked as his body snapped around once more to face the older boy. Ichiro and Roy ignored him. Riza merely glanced over at him with a raised eyebrow before returning her attention to her gun. Ed drew his gaze from his book distractedly.

“What?” He replied, even as his body continued to twitch. Looking at him properly for the first time, Al could see tiny tremors running through his brother’s body, shaking it. Al sighed.

“You know, niisan, if you’re cold, all you had to do was say something!”

“Well… I’m cold?” Ed said, grinning sheepishly at him. Al gathered his book and rose from his chair, walking over to his brother. Swiftly he plopped onto the couch beside Ed, drawing close to wrap himself around his brother. Warm skin contacted with cool, and the shaking seemed to slow.

“Better?” Al asked after a moment. Ed nodded in response. Al flipped open his book, leaning against his brother and shifting till he could read it comfortable. The Elrics casually lay there, reading side by side.

“Hey!” The pair exclaimed as a rather large amount of weight fell across them. Only Al’s tight hold on his brother kept him from falling off the couch.

“It was cold over there, too.” Ichiro said, shrugging unapologetically as he draped his upper body across Ed’s torso and burrowed against the back of the couch. Al noticed that the older man no longer had possession of his reading material.

Al gave a little cry and shivered as he felt a hand run up his spine. Turning, he saw Roy behind him, leaning against the coffee table.

“Looks like you’re a little chilly as well, Alphonse.” He said. The dark haired man swooped down and kissed him soundly, wrapping his own body around that of the younger man. Fire burned its way into him. When at last Roy drew back, Al couldn’t help but notice that the book was no longer in his possession. Ed’s also seemed to have vanished.

Roy was just leaning back towards him when a small cough drew the attention of the men. Riza looked disapprovingly at them for a moment before setting her weaponry aside.

“Perhaps,” she said slowly, rising to her feet and heading for the stairs, “a blanket would help?”

The four exchanged looks briefly before hurriedly disentangling themselves and rushing after her, leaving the stack of books alone on the coffee table.
