These are my family's Christmas traditions. We have more than I realized. What are yours?
*We watch "Miracle on 3th Street" and "A Muppet Family Christmas." My mom and I watched the former the other night and we fast-forwarded through all the bad, evil-people parts.
*My mom listens to classical Gregorian-type music where my dad prefers 50s-type music and "Grandma Got Run Over By A Reindeer."
*My dad and I go to Mass on Christmas Eve.
*We make eggnog cookies and gingerbread cookies.
*My dad wears a red hat with antler (reindeer) and will also occasionally don a red rubber nose.
*My nana (mom's mom) stiched my brother and me little patchwork ornaments every year starting when we were born, with a new line from a Christmas poem or song: mine is "'Twas the Night Before Christmas" and Patrick's is "The Twelve Days of Christmas." So, for each year, the next line.
*Patrick and I each have a nutcracker, mine is a toy-maker and his is a soldier. They were mostly for decoration, but Patrick's started to be fascinated by his, it has a beard and everything.
*We (my brother and I) also have classy stockings from when we were younger, although my grandmother (dad's dad) has a stocking for every single member of the family, from herself and my granddad to every son, daughter, daughter-in-law, grandchild, dog, etc.
I'll be in Florida with the fam from the 25th to the 29th. Call my cell!
Merry Christmas! and Happy Chanukkah! and any other holiday! and Happy Birthday to Camille and Amy!
