Reasons why England is better than America...

I'm sitting here on the couch in Leicester and wishing I never had to leave.  These are the top ten reasons why, for me, England is better than America.

10.  We all know I'm a history geek.  Well, if you're one of the two people who read this LJ, you know this.  If you have stumbled onto this from a misplaced tag click, I'm telling you now... I'm a history geek.  And lets face it, England has WAAAAAY more history than America.

9.  The teenager of destiny wouldn't have to move and change schools once again.  As someone who went through three different elementary schools, three different high schools, and six different colleges/universities, I know what it feels like to bounce around.  I know how hard it can be to uproot and move over and over again.  And I know exactly how difficult it can be when you're a teenager/young adult.  He's a great kid and I hate that he's going to be uprooted yet again.

8.  Less conspicuous consumption.  Things are smaller, are more efficient, and in general, seem to make more sense for the way I live my life, or the way I want to live my life.  I have this huge refrigerator at home but its almost never full.  And even when it is, much of the food goes bad before I can eat it/make it.  The fridge here is just the right size.  The use of space here makes more sense to me.

7.  Democratic socialism works for me.  Being able to vote for representatives is always good, in my book.  But I also feel that Americans' fear of socialism as a political dirty word is hurting us in the long run.  We have so much invested in the status quo that we're loathe to change it, even if the change will help.

6.  I wouldn't have to work if I moved here.  I could be stay at home mom.  Its interesting, I never wanted to be stay at home mom with the ex.  But I want to now.  I think its because I trust that he will take care of me and I can take care of him and our family by being at home.  He's the first man I've truly trusted.

5.  Kebabs are yummy.  And I have no idea where to get them in the states.  Gyros are similar but not the same.

4.  Gu...  spelled with two little dots over the u.  Its this intense little chocolate pudding.  Its more dense than American pudding.  Kinda like ganache, or if double chocolate pudding and dark chocolate cake frosting got married and had a very very yummy baby.

3.  I have a serious love for Chicken and Mushroom Pukka Pies.  This is very close to an addiction.  And they don't export to the states.  I know because I wrote an email to the company asking.  * sigh*

2.  This is where Doctor Who shows on television regularly and I don't have to resort to illegal methods to watch new ones.

And the number one, mostest important reason I want to move to England...

1.  My honey lives here and I want to be with him.  now.  always.  forever.

Yes, I know he's moving to the US to be with me.  I don't doubt this at all.  But we'd have the life we want sooner if I moved to him instead of the other way around.  * sigh *
