I've come to the conclusion that perhaps MMOs aren't for me anymore. As much as I enjoy(ed) Rift it seems to become more of a grind every patch. I'm either:
1. Grinding for Inscribed Sourcestones
2. Grinding for reputation
3. Grinding for world event currency
4. Grinding for the latest RNG drop
5. Grinding out the next Planar Attunement level
Unfortunately, I don't see any of that changing. It occurred to me that I spend literally 100% of my gaming time essentially working a part time job to 'save up' for something I can't purchase for weeks (if not months) and it's a never-ending cycle.
I've also deviated further and further away from the "MM" part of MMO avoiding any and all group content as much as possible. Needless to say, I don't think another MMO is the answer because they all follow the same grind model and the same forced grouping to accomplish things.
Problem is, an MMO subscription is cheaper than buying a new game every month. So, I'm basically looking for single player games that have a lot of longevity and/or replay value. Any suggestions?
