I know it's been a while, but nothing's really changed other than the tumor continues to get bigger. It's taken over almost his entire lower jaw and, from what I can tell, has started to move up the side of his face too. The left side doesn't feel the same as the right and I've noticed that his left eye acts like there's something internally pressing against it. He still has blood in his saliva too.
Unfortunately, there's really nothing I can do other than keep giving him his pain meds. As the vet said, when his quality of life begins to suffer greatly then we'll look into euthanasia. As it is, he's still social, still tries to bathe himself, still has a voracious appetite*, and doesn't have many "bad" days relatively. I give him a small amount of his post op pain medication when it looks like he's feeling miserable and that usually does the trick.
* I'm beginning to wonder about the appetite now. We've been giving him his pain medicine in his food to lessen the trauma of its administration, so I'm thinking maybe what we perceive as his never-ending hunger is his mental association that eating sometimes makes his pain better. He still eats almost all the food we give him though, so I don't know.
