Fluffy Update

Well, Fluffy had his stitches out yesterday. The vet said he's healed up nicely. She also said that he hasn't lost anymore weight and probably what I'm noticing is loss of muscle mass, which would make sense since his activity level has plummeted. He just feels so tiny now. She said he still has a nice healthy coat too. His tumor has gotten a little larger, but it's at a relatively slow and non-aggressive rate.

I like my vet. Not only has she been understanding about costs and given us a flexible payment plan for the remainder of the balance, but she didn't charge for some of what they did and she took a special side trip to check out Fluffy yesterday. (He wasn't scheduled to see her, only to get his stitches removed.) She said he's one of her favorites. :)

It's strange. Even though Fluffy turns 12 this month it really doesn't feel like I've had him that long. I still remember when he and his brother, Raspy, were small enough I could carry one under each arm. I remember Mom always telling me that no matter how old I got I'd always be her baby and that's how I feel about Fluffy. I don't see a senior citizen cat, I just see my baby.

I read on a pet adoption site that people looking to adopt should be aware that it's a long term obligation and cats can live 20 years or more. It just made me angry. I lost Raspy at 9 and will probably lose Fluffy at 12. So, 20 years my ass.
