I ♥ the Olympics, but I have to say two things bother me about them:

1. Age. I really hate how 30+ is considered practically decrepit for the Olympics. I mean, what about people who's parents didn't get them into gymnastics or whatever at age 4 so they could compete at 16? As an aside, I'm really glad to see swimmers and gymnasts in their 30s this go around even if it has to be heavily commentated how extremely rare that is because 30+ is too elderly to usually be competing. :P (Even still, they've all been in the sport for their entire lives. I'd really like to see a tale of someone who started late and still managed to succeed.)

2. Commercialism. Well, more specifically I hate how some events get more sponsorship than others. Do we see archers on the Wheaties box? It's like unless you're one of what I call the "quarterback" events (swimming, gymnastics, etc.) no one really cares about you. Hell, they don't even air half the events here, including archery. I'm not sure we would have even heard about USA's fencing medal except for the fact that we sweeped all 3. It's just like even if you win gold if you're not a "quarterback" nobody but those in your sports' circle will really care and I'm guessing they don't get the multi-million dollar deals like Phelps, et al.
