Blast From The Past
Since I've had time on my hands and no real inclination or focus for writing, though I DO have an H50 Steve/Catherine, S/D simmering, I've been catching up on Bones. And hey, samsom, I also thought I was done with Bones, but not so much now :-) I kind of regret giving it up. I haven't seen them living up to it, yet, but the S8 season premier was beautifully edited and acted, especially the montage at the end as a set-up for the rest of the season. I hope they paid off with Flynn and Pilante. I'm not there, yet :-) I have JUST seen ep9, The Ghost In The Machine, which has a gorgeously maintained POV from a skull. And the reveal of Booth's idea of his and Brennan's song- Brennan: 'We have a song?' Yes, Bones, you do.
And I'm thrilled with it because of a fic I wrote years ago, which can still hold its place in the fucked up reboot of Temperance from quirky willing to try anything/stand up for herself first few eps version to slightly clueless, overly rigid Asperger version to oh! my baby changed me emotional version of S8, so far as I've seen it. And yes, I can actually see how she might move through these versions over time as she went from somewhat carefree to notsureabout!Booth to living/loving with Booth, but I object to some of the ways in which show did not give us the transitions on screen in an obvious visual format when that is what the motion picture medium is all about.
But... that's kind of beside the point, because, yes, in now watching S7 and S8, I'm kind of regretting giving up on the areas in which they have gotten it right and willing to concede that maybe skipping the whole 'oh, we're in love' angst to just giving us the relationship as a whole after summer hiatus was maybe not such a bad idea after all. Though, geesh, we couldn't have gone out on a great sex visual as the credits rolled after the reveal at the end of S6? Really?
Anyway- in honor of Booth and Brennan's song, since I have flisties who weren't around then, though samsom is right, Bones has died on the flist!!!, I'm re-posting a link to my long!Bones case fic (68,000 words), The Dare in The Snipe Hunt, in which their song makes a minor appearance :-) Someday I need to make me a master fic list and post it at the top of my page :-) And dang, I wish I could wave a magic wand and make this particular fic past tense, instead of present, lolol. I had no idea when I started how long it would be.
