ORIGINAL FIC:

Still writing on my third novel- the first commercially viable one- Thought I'd have it DONE by summer's end, but NOOOOO... extensively re-writing the middle after I worked my way ALMOST to the end  Still- all is well- re-joined my local writing group and their feedback has been very helpful in building my confidence.

Wrote three new short stories in 2012. Got completely serious about marketing my fic, so have 12 short fics out in circulation EVERYDAY to semi-pro markets, because seriously, should I keep sending these out to non-paying markets? Not until I've exhausted the paying ones, I've decided. I have five more that need work before they go out. Since July, that's been netting me at least one rejection a week. BUT I actually SOLD 'Karl's Last Night' to The Rag for 4 US cents/word, which is top of the scale for semi-pro and got PAID $50.00!!!! Not sure yet when it'll be published. And I have another that's made top 15% and the second cut for all submissions for an anthology to be published Spring 2013. Keep your fingers crossed it makes the final cut, please. The editor said it was a staff favorite :-) The short fiction market drives me CRAZY because it's standard to wait 3-6 months for a reply and I have one fic that was out to one mag for an entire year before they rejected it. Generally, you can only manage to submit each individual fic 2-4 times/ year, which means it takes a LONG time to build a resume.
