Happy 2012 (I HOPE!!!)

Jan 02, 2012 21:35

My flist! May your road through 2012 keep your feet and eyes dry, a laugh rising in your heart, and good friends at your side.

Wow. 2011 was interesting in some not so good ways. Lost friends to the other side, and other friends lost spouses and parents and long-term relationships. The start of 2012 is already slated to bring the loss of animal companions, as my Savannah's EPM re-lapsed in December and after a year of struggle this month, I need to let her go. Diamond's life hinges on her ability to live a quality life after the catastrophic ankle break she suffered in the fall. My two older dogs are living on borrowed time, each past their expected life spans with the medical issues they have.

On the 2011 up side, following nearly six months of traction and re-hab after suffering herniated discs and whiplash following the car wreck last December, I returned to doing SET therapy and I am stronger and healthier than I have been in years. I continued riding throughout - in a neck brace and at the walk at the start, but hey! It was productive! Tally's never been better :-). Now 13 and 17, my kids are healthy and fantastically entertaining. My hubby's been a bit beset by physical issues- muscle tears and such- and bored with his career, though the day to day still immerses him. He can't think of anything he can make as good a living at, though he can think of other things he wants to do. The problem is, those things take money. A catch-22 :-) He knows I'd happily live off the land in a tent if need be, so at least he's not feeling any pressure to keep me to a certain level, though the kids might need a, um, adjustment period, lolol. Despite that and some depression from losing friends, he's made a real attempt this year to keep up a good attitude, and I've appreciated that. My dad's back surgery was successful and he's walking again and able to tolerate spending more time up and about. We gave Lace a tortoise after her frog died - a nearly seven year old Cuban I fed by hand after she became blind! She was amazing. And you know what? That tortoise has mega personality. Oh, and I got a story published in the spring :-)

In fandom, I really loved Sons Of Anarchy and am trying to keep loving Hawaii Five-0, though currently I'm liking the fic better than the show, lol. Also watching Fringe. Waiting for Justified to start. I just hope they don't screw that story line with the Bones-like thread they left hanging. Please don't go there. Pull a 5-0 is necessary.

I wrote nine fics in 2011- I should've turned my spn_fiftystates fic in on time, then it would've been ten :headdesk: :-)

If you've never read it, here's the text: http://denuccio.net/ohplaces.html Of course, it's best just to get it at the library or find it at a bookstore. The illustrations are priceless. Reading it from Dean POV? :shivers:
Disclaimer: Just twisting things up- SPN is Kripke, et al's, and no offense meant to Dr. Seuss or his estate-

Still writing and submitting original fic, though I keep letting my masterlist fall by the wayside. The short-story market is way frustrating for the length of time stories get held.

eta: fix links- I have preview issues with LJ- I always have to go fix coding after I post :-/
