It's a moment before Guy realises that he's heard a knock at the door and a voice.
The last voice he had heard was Robin's, before...
Well. Before.
He supposed he should see what whoever at the door wanted.
Opening the door feels strange, the metal of the handle feels unreal and while the door swings open exactly as it should, it seems wrong at the same time.
Guy can only stare blankly at the man outside his door.
Will meets his gaze and waits, he's carrying a bottle of wine and some bread. Bar recommended more but he'll stir Sir Guy but will not overly welcome him, that feels wrong to Will.
The fact that he is here at all is due to the Maid Marian they share who searches for the light in everyone and Will will do what he can to not disappoint her though he feels a fool.
The set up reminds Will of the castle and steps purposefully through, he's not here as a servant and sets the bread and wine down on the first flat surface,
That's a good question. It's not something he would have done a few weeks ago.
"We were fighting together," Guy shrugged. "Instinct, I suppose."
He laughed, short and sharp.
"Protecting Hood after nearly a lifetime of hating him, who would have thought?" Guy paused, reflecting. "But perhaps it was the just the right thing to do."
"I nearly died for Nottingham once before, with Marian." That day feels like a thousand years ago. "We stood side by side against Prince John's men until Hood finally retrieved the Sheriff to stop them."
"Funny that he should escape death for so long when I fought against him, only to die when I fought with him."
When he enters today, he's given a note that he looks at for a long time before going up and knocking at Gisborne's door,
"Lady Bar says ye're na to wallow. I dinna care but she asked me to tell ye."

Nevertheless, he steps back from the doorway and gestures for Will to enter.

"How long 'ave ye been 'ere?"

At least, he doesn't think so.
"I died."

"What happened?"

Guy doesn't touch the bread. Or the wine. Do the dead eat? He has no idea, but regardless, he has no appetite.
"I was with Robin and Archer delaying them, to let the others escape."
Archer. He had found an unlikely brother, only to lose him.
"I took a blow from the Sheriff meant for Robin and one from Isabella too."

Finally he asks, "Why?"

Robin has a way of inspiring men to follow him, Will just never expected him to inspire Sir Guy, any Sir Guy.

Robin Hood and the crushing of hopes associated with him. Sometimes old habits die hard.
"My sister poisoned him too. I wonder if he held out long enough for the people of Nottingham to escape the Sheriff's troops."

"'e'd die for Nottingham. Ye did an I almost did."
It's not something Will thought he'd ever share with Sir Guy.

He can't think of anything to say and eats another piece of bread, it would take so little for Nottingham to fall apart with no way to heal it.

"It might have been better if I had remained the only child of the Gisborne line in Nottingham."
