For once, I had an interesting fourth of July! Never, in my entire life, have I lit off fireworks for the fourth. And this year, I finally got to!! It was fun. We bought, like, $50 worth of fireworks from one of the many fireworks stands in Lubbock, and then we went out to Brandon's dad's house (on a huge plot of grass-less land) and lit off a bunch of bottle rockets and roman candles and, my favorite, small bees, hahaha. They were adorable!! You lit them and threw them, and if they landed upright, they'd shoot off into the air with a shot of green and a pleasant 'whizz!'
We were only out there for a couple hours before we came back into Lubbock and Codie and Brandon played music for a while, giving me a chance to chat with my roommate about fun "translated" Indian music on Youtube, Food Network personalities, and such, as well as watch an episode of the new Hellsing with James (which was AWESOME, epic, full of win, etc, etc, and literally left us feeling a bit, genuinely, freaked out).
Codie, B and I decided to watch Casino Royale, which Codie and I hadn't seen, and it was the first Bond movie I've ever watched. (Sad, I know!) Left me wanting to watch more Bond movies!! And it had some of my favorite elements in a movie: gambling and action. The whole romantic bit was crap, and the ending was a BIT weak, but the "Bond. James Bond." line with Bond carrying a huge gun was pretty awesome, so I wasn't completely displeased with the ending.
Codie and I also went and saw Hancock last night, and it was SURPRISINGLY great! They advertised the movie so well, setting it up as just some semi-ridiculous film about an atypical superhuman/superhero, and the movie delivered that, and a whole lot more. The effects weren't too over the top, and the story was just fantastic. Anyone who likes comic book movies and/or action movies and/or Will Smith movies will not be disappointed! I enjoyed it a lot. (And I tend to like comic book movies, action movies, and Will Smith movies, but I still wasn't expecting to enjoy it -that- much!)
Now I'm wondering if I should go to sleep or not... >_> Hmmm. Tempting to stay up. Perhaps not too much later, though.
