At first, upon waking, Sora had felt like he was home, where he could be lazy and everything was warm and he got to wake up whenever he wanted. It wasn't some uncomfortable Gummi ship chair, but a real bed. He wasn't functioning on six hours of sleep, but twelve.

A bit of half-asleep shifting revealed that the mattress wasn't nearly as comfortable as it should have been--not to mention the entire bed-spring creaked. And it was a very familiar creak.

Blue eyes blinked open as the brunette let out a waking moan and rolled himself out of bed. Landing flatly on barefoot feet, he found his slippers and then glanced around the room. The window and the atmosphere told him it was morning, so where was his nurse.

Suddenly, a woman he had never seen before stepped in, looking somewhat frazzled and out of sorts. "Ahh! Okay, you're... uhh..." She paused and glanced down at papers that were out of order. "What was your name again..."

"Sora?" the boy provided helpfully.

"Matthew!" she corrected, tromping over to grab his wrist and lead him to the door.

Sora was yanked all the way to the cafeteria, where he was provided (though delayed) with the nurse's name: Charla-something.

That had been... weird. Shrugging, Sora looked around. Lust seemed... off and the other three were busy, so the Keyblade Master opted to sit with Goku instead. He had wanted to get to know the other boy a bit better. After nabbing some food, he settled into a chair with a smile. "Hey."

While shovelling food into his mouth, Goku had been distracted by thoughts. Okay, so... they were in the medical wing. And they didn't come out with supplies... Or at least he hadn't. Maybe Roy and Lust did better? He'd seen Roy and Hughes talking to someone else, but there was time to find out more later... And then he couldn't help but worry about Yuuri. He knew that the other boy had a fever the last he'd seen, but maybe he'd managed to get lots of sleep too, and it was gone by now...

Oh. There was someone else talking to him. Giving the new person at his table a sheepish smile, Goku stopped eating long enough to answer. "Hi Sora... Is it just me, or is this place weirded out more than usual?"

Someone else had an appetite as large as his could be. Sora was impressed. He started to wolf his food down, pausing long enough to reply to Goku's inquiry. "It's not just you," he confirmed with a shake of his head. "Some of the building is messed up and the nurses are different." He didn't know what that truly meant, though. Was the staff change simply that--a staff change--or was there more to it?

Sora tried not to get too hung up on that sort of thing. Figuring things out hadn't exactly been his area of expertise. He was the one that kept everyone else going, that reminded everyone that things would work out-- but trying to uncover the secrets behind this place was a job better suited to someone else.

Well, at least he wasn't the only one noticing the difference. Goku nodded back. The answer sounded actually like one that he would give someone else himself, and that was okay.

It was very empty, too. Which meant that lots of people were gone, or else he had just woken up a lot earlier than everyone else. If that was the case, he would be quite shocked. But the other... he didn't want to think about so much. What if...?

"The last thing I remember is gettin' smacked again... a tree, I think. An' then someone was talkin' and then everything's blank after that..."

He was used to having blank spots in his memories, but this time it didn't have the same feeling as if it had been around..

Sora frowned when Goku explained his situation previous to waking. "That doesn't sound good," he muttered, scratching at his hair with one hand while he continued to pick up forkfuls with the other.

He stared over at the two military men and Scar as he considered what he had been doing the night before. "I don't think I woke up," he admitted after a moment or two, turning his attention back to Goku to flash him a sheepish grin. "No wonder I feel so well-rested, huh?" Perhaps staying in certain nights wasn't such a bad idea. Then again, he felt like he needed to help out now that he had committed himself to Hughes and the others...

"I need an alarm clock, I think."

"I almost didn't..." Goku admitted, remembering how worried he'd been about oversleeping and missing out on the night before. Then again, maybe it would have been better if he'd just slept through the whole thing and he wouldn't have ended up with such a headache. At least it was almost gone now...

"I know I didn't wanna wake up this morning." He paused to take a few more bites of food.

And now that he was more awake, and his stomach wasn't protesting quite as loudly, Goku was starting to pick up on a few other things. Things that while his senses were all still dulled more than they should be, that felt... off.

"The building... it feels different. Kinda smells different too." Goku wasn't sure if he was sounding crazy or not, but it was the only thing he could think of to describe it.

"Feels different?" Sora blinked and took another look around the room, as if things would be apparent after hearing this observation from the other boy. He made an attempt to "feel" out the building, but he had never had that sort of skill. He could sense a certain amount of light and dark, but that was the extent of any sixth sense he might have had.

The comment on smell was even stranger--Sora had to wonder who this Goku was--or perhaps what he was. It would be difficult to ask without it being awkward, though. "What do you mean? How is it different?" Being able to feel in such a way was pretty handy--Sora figured he'd hear Goku out and see if he could make any sense of his feelings.

"It's... hard to explain," Goku smiled slightly, feeling a bit guilty for being vague and unable to give more details. Hakkai was always better at explaining things than he was anyways... "Uh... it's kinda weird, cause I can sense when it's dangerous, like when one of Kougaiji's assassins is tryin' to stop us at home. But this... it's just different than what a building should feel like, I guess."

Goku was starting to realize that he had no clue what kind of world Sora was from, and that his rambling might not make any sense. But he tried.

"You can sense danger. Well, that makes sense." Sora figured he could pretty much sense when Heartless were around. There were the telltale signs, after all. That lurking feeling, the sense that he was being watched, and then there was the sound of the shadow taking a physical form...

Jerked from his musings, he regarded Goku with a smile. "Well, that's pretty convenient. What do you think it means, though?" He picked at his food from time to time, watching as more people stepped in--Edward was the only one he recognized out of the batch, but so far he couldn't tell that anyone was missing. Though he did get the feeling that the room wasn't as crowded as it should have been...

Goku shook his head slightly. "Guess we'll find out... Maybe Hughes knows," he glanced in the direction where the man and Roy had joined Ed.

"It feels... empty. Like... there's a lot of presences that are gone now."

Sora's eyes tracked Hughes and the other, dark-haired one. If he remembered correctly, he'd been told the man was a Colonel. However, he still hadn't had the chance to be properly introduced. He was sure the time would come around eventually.

"He might." Though he didn't know why Hughes would be aware of anything. While the man was nice, he didn't seem to have all the information.

What Goku said second was what really bothered him, however. "So... we really did lose people?" Who?

What if Riku had been one of them?

"Didn't the intercom say somethin' about missing people?" Goku asked. He'd only been barely awake at the point when he'd heard it, so he didn't trust his knowledge on what it said in any detail.

He glanced around the room another time. "Actually... It looks like lots of the adults are gone. An' the ones they gave wings to an' stuff."

There was still no sign of Yuuri, but Goku's brain was still trying to rationalize that he'd been sick and was just sleeping in more than usual.

"It said that we'd lost people. It was sort of vague, though." Which was frustrating. It was always vague, hinting at things that Sora could never make any sense of.

Now that Goku mentioned it--Sora glanced around the room. Sephiroth, Cloud, and the rest of the people that tended to flock around him weren't present. Usually they were all in a group, crowding some table. "You're right. What do you think happened to them?" Were they...?

He didn't want to think about that. From what he could tell, though, all of those people had been from one world. It seemed like the people from Hughes' world were all still present, so it was possible the hospital had removed people based on what world they were from.

Which meant Riku would still be around. That only worked if his theory was true, of course, and Sora had no way of proving it.

"I... I dunno," Goku said softly, his stomach finally satisfied to the point that it wasn't protesting anymore. He still had every intention on stuffing his pockets with fruit for later - especially if Yuuri missed breakfast, he wanted to have enough to be able to share.

"So what's your world like?" he asked curiously. He felt more talkative than he had in days, despite his worries, and it sounded like a good enough distraction. Afterall, it had worked rather well when he'd talked to Yuuri about it...

It was probably best not to think about it for the moment, so Sora was glad that Goku changed the subject, even if it was to his own world--something he had been talking about quite a lot as of late.

"Ahh, my world is called Destiny Islands. It's an island chain--pretty calm, pretty nice, great weather, but a bit cramped." He smiled sheepishly. "But I was able to travel to other worlds, so it was okay." He was realizing that he didn't regret leaving home, even if he'd been faced with some many tribulations once he had. "How about you?"

"You've been to other worlds too? Yuuri says he gets to go back and forth between two... It sounds weird an' awesome at the same time." Goku smiled.

"My world? Uh... Well, we're always travelling west, so my life's been hotels in cities I can't remember the names of and the back seat of a jeep for a long time now. We've been through deserts, mountains, you name it... And there's always demons tryin' to kill us, so it's weird bein' stuck in one place here."
