Day 18; Courtyard

The intercom always did have perfect timing. Maes had been hoping to talk to Quistis some, but it seemed like the very important conversations got cut short. Of course, if his nurse wasn't quite so eager to bustle him off ( Read more... )

Naminé happily returned the hug, but she looked rather confused as Elena listed off the things one was supposed to take for this kind of pain. Tylenol? Ibu..profen? What were those things? A heating pad did sound nice though, she supposed.

"... Tylenol? Is that some kind of spell or medicine?" She asked, cocking her head. Maybe it was their version of a Potion or Cure magic.

She directed her attention to where River was, smiling. At least the nurses of Landels were kind enough to mend your wounds if you couldn't get them fixed during the night. She kept a mental note of this; it just made her feel safer, really. And it was good to know River was alright, as well as Elena.

"Huh? Oh..." Naminé tried to find a way to explain herself out of the question Elena posed. Well, I'm actually a Nobody, you see. A shadow of life, one that is not supposed to exist. No one told me about the menstrual cycle because I didn't think I would exist long enough to get it. Oh, by the way, what's Tylenol?. No, that was not good.

"... I grew up around in a household of men. I don't think any of them really gave it much thought." Naminé explained. That explanation was true. She left out Larxene, though. Larxene was too busy tormenting her to really educate her on her body.

So, this Tylenol was supposed to be medicine. If it could relieve the pain of cramping, then it must be strong stuff. Naminé decided to ask for some. She wasn't sure if Nobodies were supposed to take medicine though. No one in the Organization ever used Potions or anything like that.

... Maybe that was why they all died.

She shook her head. Such morbid thoughts! Elena was still talking, so Naminé attentively listened. She couldn't help but grin as Elena ranted on about guys. Well, Marluxia and the others weren't smelly, but they sure were obnoxious.

"No, I didn't have to share a bathroom with them1" Naminé laughed. "I got my own room, actually..." She frowned as she said this though, like it wasn't a good thing. They may have been obnoxious and rude, but... Naminé appreciated their company, even if they only wanted to use her as pawns. At least she wasn't completely alone...

Naminé found herself nodding to Elena's plight. It was terrible of her to think of such things, but she could actually relate to the other blonde...

"I... sort of know how you feel. I have... Could I call her a sister? It's not that she is perfect, but I am but her shadow. I am nothing when compared to her. It... it used to bother me, but not anymore. I'm actually worried about her. I hope she's OK... I'm sorry, I guess that's not really how you feel," Naminé gave an apologetic smile. She never hated Kairi, only had a small resentment for not existing first. But Elena must have cared for her sister too, despite what she was saying.

".. Yes, something like that." It seemed too difficult to explain what she really was. But perhaps she should try. After all, there were quite a few Nobodies here already. But in a way, it was nice that Elena didn't know. Nobodies weren't very liked where she came from, but she was no longer there.

"... Actually, the people I was talking about, the ones I, er, lived with. They're here. In fact..." Naminé took another careful glance around the courtyard. All the patients were supposed to be here, weren't they? Perhaps Naminé simply missed them because she saw Elena first. But hope blossomed terrible on Naminé's features and she tugged on Elena's sleeves to point out Axel and Luxord, somewhere in the distance.

"The man with the spiky red hair and the man with the short blonde hair and the goatee. I know them. And there's a lot of others like us, who came here too. I nwver found out where... Kairi was, but maybe Rosalind is here too?"

So many people from Naminé's world were here, now that she thought about it. Was Landel's bigger then she thought or was this some strange twist of fate?

"What does she look like? Maybe I even saw her. I remember everyone I see."

Naminé couldn't help but smile at the way Elena described Axel, mostly because it was true. So, she had met the other Nobodies... she wondered if Axel told Elena about Nobodies. Apparently not. She wasn't going to pursue the subject.

"Oh... well, I haven't seen anyone like that, unfortunately," Naminé bowed her head. Strangely, she actually hadn't seen too many blonde haired and blue eyed people. But that didn't mean Rosalind wasn't here. "It's probably best if she's not here anyway. I wouldn't want someone I cared about to be here, especially during the night." Naminé grimaced just at the thought of that spider from the night before.

Though... the smaller blonde wasn't really sure if she was glad Kairi wasn't here. Kairi wasn't here, but Sora and Riku were. Was she... was she lonely? Kairi wasn't even complete anymore; she once again had a shell of herself existing. Who could have undone all that they had worked for?

"So you met Axel?" Naminé asked, changing the subject. "He's actually a really good person, though sometimes he shows it in the strangest of ways. He really helped me out before."

Naminé smiled a bit, but something about her smile seemed a little... off.

"I'm actually glad he's acting like that again. I mean, he's always like that but when Roxas went away he seemed a bit... off?" Naminé sounded like she was in a distant place, but she quickly snapped back to reality, blushing a bit. Why would Elena care for that?

"Ah, I'm sorry. It's just been awhile since I've seen either of them. I'm just reminiscing."

It was strange to have a comforting female figures, especially one that looked like Larxene. Naminé admitted to herself that she was afraid Elena would mock her, but she was just so nice and kind. Kindness was something Naminé was used to giving, not recieving. After all, the world wasn't kind to Nobodies.

She blinked in surprise though. Tell about... her world? That was hard, because Naminé had been to many worlds, but none of them were hers. Should she tell Elena her not-memories of Destiny Islands? Castle Oblivion? Twilight Town? The World That Never Was? She had lived in all of them (or at least pretended to), she pursed her lips, thinking about the best way to explain this.

Well, there would be no point in lying if there were others who could point out her flaws. Naminé was sick of lying anyway.

"Actually, where I come from, there are... numerous worlds! I came from a world named Castle Oblivion, it's... well, it's a giant castle. The rooms are very interesting, when you enter one, it shows you your memories... I suppose you don't have anything like that where you come from!" She laughed a bit. "I never... I never had to go to school or anything..."

Elena certainly had an imagination! Naminé didn't even think that the functions of Castle Oblivion could be used for good, but the way she put it... Naminé couldn't help but laugh along, imagining Organization XIII's revered and feared Superior dressed in judge robes and the others as the jury. The image only made Naminé giggle with glee. That was something she would have to sketch!

"It does, doesn't it?!" Naminé smiled. It did sound like something from a comic book, though Naminé never actually read one... or even seen one, for that matter.

"What about your world? I'm sure you have something there that we don't. Like..." Naminé furrowed her brow, thinking of something she had heard Elena say. "Like... Materia! What's that?"
