Camelot - Episode 8 - Igraine

May 22, 2011 22:04

Oh my gosh!!!! their are only three episodes left!!!! And still no word on whether their will be a season 2, lets keep are fingers and toes crossed that their will be because the things that are unfolding now could make a hell of a second season.
okay so first off, Morgan embodying Igraine. This episode picks up right were the last one left off which was Morgan using her "magic" of shape shifting to become Arthur's mother Igraine. To be honest i still do not like this idea and i found it a little odd that one no (especially Merlin) saw anything irregular about her. now the powers that come with this gift seem to allow her to instinctively know how to act like the real Igraine and it also allowed her access to all her thoughts, desires and feelings. Some things she was not able to understand or know. suck as Igraine's connection to the extremely sweat orphaned boy named Redwald. this boy was the most adorable thing. he lost his parents to Lots attack and Igraine with the help of merlin who also has a soft spot for him decided to throw a birthday party for him. not sure if they had those in the 4th century but who cares. the toys and Armour set were so adorable!   And just to pull on your heartstrings a little more the boy openly professed his love for Igraine. Making the cold hearted Morgana feel, i think, somewhat guilty and a little touched as she realizes that the women she hates with such a passion is a very compassionate women. unlike herself. Morgan sees into this compassion that Igraine has and uses it to fuel her two plans, which it seems is to exposes the affair of Arthur and Guinevere and to have merlin for herself.
Merlin and Igraine. well i must say i am surprised at merlin's nievety in this episode. I was sure that if anyone was going to see through the fake Igraine it would be him. Especially when he said that to touch a person was to see all their secrets. and yet, he kisses her, has sex with her and not a single vision. At which point i believe i yelled at my TV saying "its the wrong women you stupid man!" i mean come on, hes wanted her this whole time and he can't even tell the difference!  I must sayy i am really hoping this is NOT how Mordred comes into the show. Because as awkward as the whole "insect" plot can be for some, i think this show has the potential to show it well. but not like this this. it should be Arthur and Morgan not Merlin and Morgan. thats another thing about merlin, he does seem a little physically intrigued by Morgan as well. telling Igraine that he wishes she would come to Camelot, and lets not forget their drunken encounter in an previous ep.  Now this show has added something new to the legends here because as far as i know Merlin and Igraine never became a pair, and neither did Merlin and Morgan. and in a way, both those parings just came into play. Ya know,  i think in this show, it works.  their ages are similar for one thing (well maybe not in the case of Morgan and Merlin) and they all have the same emotional weaknesses, all fighting with the fortunes and fate they are given. In Igraine Merlin sees what he misses in himself which seems to be control, feel and compassion, and in merlin Igranes finds what she is missing which is excitement and friendship. And Morgan, well she just likes to screw with it all and have merlin for herself. and later i hope this attitude is transferred to her brother.   Perhaps she should embody Guinevere and then Mordred would come into play! :)
the episode on a rather almost comical note as the real Igraine manages to escape her prison and run back to Camelot only to come face to face with...herself! you should have seen her face lol.
okay now for Arthur. In this episode Arthur and the knights go out hunting for boar and deer. i had a complete Mabinogion moment and i was sure the boar Tywth Twit (check spelling) was going to run out of the woods of the woods at any moment lol. Also it shows the start of the idea for what will likely become the round table. Arthur had decided he wants to elect Representatives from every town and have them come to hold a counsel. sounds like a typical Medieval governing idea to me.  i also love the idea of Camelot being a place for anyone to escape to as that is what the romantic idea of Camelot always was to me. A place to escape to and for those who were in need of a home it provides one.
While the knights are in the forest for the knight Leontes has a visitor. the big black wolf that Morgan spoke to in episode two. i still would really like to know the perhaps of the wolf according to Celtic lore as that would probilly give me some clues  as to why the wolf chooses specific people. i agreed with Leontes for once though when he said the wolf must have had a perhaps for him, now the question is, what?? this aspect although weird at first is really getting interesting to me now. as long as its not a werewolf, god forbid.
Alright now for my favorite bit. Igraine (Morgan) lets the affair `cat out of the bag!!!! *big dramatic drum roll) she convinces Guinevere to confess that Arthur has her before her wedding then lets it slip to Leontes right under the Christian cross.  the one thing that man holds dear more then his wife, his faith. both shattered in one moment. the look on his face when he was in bed with her at the end of the episode....yep  i think i will finally get to see the fight i have waited for all season long! Arthur vs. Leontes round one! *ding* i hope Arthur kicks Lepontes backside. hes not an Arthurian character really, so pfft. lol
not much historical stuff to comment on in this episode as much of this is all new. im sure those of  you who are better at Costumes era`s would have some comments. and once again the horsemanship still needs major work but beggars can`t be choosers as they say ;)
