So last night was the big night. No, not dan's b-day like everyone thinks. The Rolling Stones were in town. Three radio stations were playing live stones, 101, 94.7, and 106.7. Christina and I went to hockeytown and met up with one of her co-workers there. The place was packed and Arthur P was doing a remote there. The whole area had an energy, everyone was pumped to see the Stones. We got a few drinks and some food. We then headed to the park around 7:30.
We got there at 7:30 visited the merch. booth to pick up some cool t-shirts, and programs. Then to the bathroom, and find our seats. Just in time to miss maroon 5. not a big deal really, nobody was there to see them. The stage was a small building. about 200 ft tall. With rows of seating behind the band, and the jumbo-est Jumbotron I have ever seen. with a small walkway down the middle towards second base.
After a little waiting and a beer, the lights go out, and "Start Me Up" blasts out of the speakers.
Here's the setlist.
Start Me Up,
You Got Me Rocking,
She's So Cold,
Tumblin' Dice,
Rough Justice(new),
Back Of My Hand(new)(Mick playing slide),
Beast Of Burden,
Ain't Too Proud To Beg (Tempations cover),
Night Time Is The Right Time (Ray Charles cover),
The Worst,
Infamy (new)(Keith on vocals),
Miss You(played on moving stage) ,
Oh No Not You Again(new)(played in center stage),
(I Can't Get No) Satisfaction,
Honky Tonk Woman(played moving back to stage),
Out Of Control,
Sympathy For The Devil,
Jumpin' Jack Flash,
Brown Sugar,
Encore (Correctly called by Christina)
You Can't Always Get What You Want,
It's Only Rock 'n' Roll
I thought the setlist was great. it mixed old and new. I do like Rough Justice. "Devil" was awesome, red lighting everywhere, and loads of pyro. the really jammed that one too. The covers were really good as well. The female lead has a set of pipes, and took over on that song. About half way though the show the center of the massive stage rose and then started moving toward the infield. The Stones were playing while this was going on. The stage then stopped and lowered to a second, smaller stage. They played Satisfaction, and the crowd went nuts.
What a great show one of the best I've ever been too. They were worth every penny.
