Novel, Day 7

Dec 17, 2011 20:52

So far, I've been behind, even since day one. But between tonight and last night I wrote about 6,000 words. I could write more, but for now, I dont' want to force the story too much. I hit a somewhat pivotal point in a conversation and didn't want to half-ass something. I feel a little drained from all the writing I did today, but I should feel better tomorrow. I've never been much of an evening writer anyway.

The story is solid so far. I've changed it a lot from my original conception, adding a completely new character and story line in addition to the original. I love it. The characters are interesting and they're wrestling with some cool problems. I can't wait for it to start heating up, so I'm going to do a little thinking about how that'll happen, but for now I'm trusting in the process. It's already made a lot of good changes to my original seed, so I'm pleased.

I'm not sure if I will finish it this month. I'm going to try to go for the word mark and plan on riding the momentum as far as I can beyond. No rushing. Just let the words flow. I've got lots of ideas and more keep appearing. I don't want to lose or abuse them.

But for those who are curious, here's the ol' Word Meter:

I have written 8,794 of 50,000 words.
I am now 17.58% done!
