So, last night, I had a dream that was pretty flipping amazing right up until the point I woke up.

In my dream, DC Comics decided that with the rise of people listening to audio books via podcast, they should get in on the monies. In the dream, they had seen a serious upswing in sales of the Knightfall and Superman Lives full cast dramas when they released them on Itunes and wanted to make more. Also, they realized that by releasing “audio comic books” on Itunes, they could reach an audience that would normally never set foot in a comic store.

Since there was already a group on the internet making very high quality full cast audio dramas, DC hired Pendant to be the official audio production company for DC comics. Anytime they would do a full cast something, or even an audio book of a DCU novel (like Inheritance or Broken City or No Mans Land or Last Sons) that it would be done through Pendant. They retained all the writing and directing staff, pretty much making LSOK, AOD, COT, and LDOK and (HAHA NO SPOILERS FOR YOU) into official audio comic books that were released on DCComics.com and via Itunes for 2.99 (the cost of your average comic).

Pendant was treated like it’s own little company within the larger label (Like Wildstorm, with it’s own set of continuity that occasionally parallels the main DCU and on rare occasion, crosses over. Like how Cptn Atom is currently in the Wildstorm Universe). Jeffrey was in the top spot, getting paid a top spot salary. All the editors were getting editors salaries. Writers were paid the same way comic writers are with contracts based on the season they’re writing for. Same went for actors. Cover artists were paid as if they were cover artists for DC at large (And their art put out on cardstock fliers that regular comic buyers could purchase at the comic store and the flyer would have an Itunes store code on it so they could go download it).

Long story short: I was getting paid to do nothing but Pendant. And then I woke up and realized I had to go to my grunt job and I wouldn’t be able to finish Supergirl 6 until tonight. My day would be so much better if I could have stayed home, finished SG6, started work on SG7 and done some work on the next Dixie cover and some script for issue 2 of (HAHA I SAID NO SPOILERS). I think it’s because I’ve started explaining to people at the grunt job that in the evenings I go to my second job. That second job is doing Pendant stuff. Right now, it’s only about an hour and a half a night that I spend, but if I could do nothing but all day I would and in a heartbeat. I think my resolution for next year is going to be to seriously start work on doing stuff to actually make money doing voice work and art. Next months’ goal is to have SG7 done by the 15th and build my art site. This week’s goal is to finish SG6 (one scene left to score, and the trailer to mix) and finish my organization work on the Earth-P Book of Destiny, which is a real book (or at least a trapper keeper) and makes me happy to look at.

Also, at some point in the next few weekends, I really, Really, REALLY need to buy some freaking pants. I nearly walked right out of my jeans the other day, and all my work pants are falling off my hips and that’s while being all bloated. Does this mean I’m a solid 20 now? An 18?! Jesus! I can almost buy clothes in regular clothes stores!!! AWESOME! Who ever though that baggy pants could brighten my day so.

As for other stuff going on: Comics came out yesterday. Jaime Reyes proved he is indeed cooler than the GL corps. We had one book pull Tim out of his recent suicidal streak, while another had him still waist deep in it and a preview page of him in over his head (Boy… SOME DCU needs a continuity editor…). I accidentally grabbed the wrong copy of countdown, but Gotham Underground made me happy and confused at the same time. I thought Matches Malone was ‘Dead’? The best thing out yesterday was COT (of course). I found myself drawing Ella on the train ride home, as she’s the only COT character I haven’t drawn yet. I have character drawings of everyone somewhere, for my own reference, but I didn’t have any of Ella. She was fun to get to design. However, I did the drawings on a negative space area in an ad in my copy of the Metro, so it got recycled on accident. Maybe tonight when I finish SG6 and the SG7 trailer I’ll do some proper designs for her and post them.

real life, work sucks, dreams, pendant
