(I quoted you here but this comment was too long and had to be shortened. LOL.)
(will not start debate. lol) Okay... the sad fact is that that is true, but not for EVERYONE. Just like any other group, there are a lot of hardcore liberals who, like hardcore conservatives, group the other side together like they have one mind. I HATE that! But the fact is, I've heard far far far too many people say things about George Bush that are so blatantly false.... like George Bush is the closest thing to god we've had in the white house. (which is silly considering he's a recovered alcoholic and that alone is somehow considered a deadly sin or something... gluttony? or something...) The point here being that in the beginning, they decided to like Bush, and many more (katie for instance) feel it is "unpatriotic to question our president"
It's astounding, and frightening, to realize how little so many people know. Later, I'd like to hear your reasons, (without debate, i know i can't change your mind) for supporting Bush in the matters of the "war on terrorism" and the homeland security issues. Because those are two places where people seem to be the most misinformed.
Particularly about the patriot act, and you know how I feel about that. lol.
Then there are those, who are informed and are mini-Rumsfelds... If anyone in that administration was the anti-christ, it'd be him. lol.
And a lot of people are scared to not vote for bush. Though you may disagree, it is my opinion that this administration has taken the tactic of fear and ran with it. a LOT of people have been convinced that Bush is the only man in the world who can "protect us from terrorists" but then again, look at all the people that freaked out over Y2K. People scare easily.
But back to the military issue we were discussing. How would it be cowardly to declassify his missions? Maybe your father or uncle know better than I, but I was told that since enough time had passed since Vietnam that everything had been declassified.
I double checked with my mom; my uncle Chris, who was in the army, was put on several black-ops missions during 'nam. My uncle Ken was in even more--he was a Navy pilot I believe... some kind of pilot anyway 'missions that didnt happen'. They're not secret. Wouldn't Bush want the people to know that he served his country rather than scramble to find people who say, 'yeah he was in the national guard with me?'
(LOL it was still to long, had to make two comments!)
Moreover, being as that he was in the national guard rather than the army, navy, marines, air force, the chances of him being in a black-op are even lower. Why would they send someone with as little experience as he had when there are so many others more qualified?
But personally, this whole military-issue in this election is making me sick. Maybe bush was awol for the war, maybe he wasn't, but he still had training regardless. Kerry may or may not have "exaggerated" his time in 'Nam, but he still went, he still fought, he still served.
These swift-boat vetrans disgust me. They didn't serve with Kerry. The people that did serve with Kerry, his 'boss' or whatever you call it has finally come out and said look, he did what he said now shut up. Maybe I'm crazy, but i'd take his word over john doe who wasn't even on kerry's boat. They're not just taking a jab at Kerry, but all the people who served with him. That's not right.
Then the people who are in an uproar because he came back from war and protested it... that's not a "flip-flop" he served because it was his duty. He came back and spoke out against the war-crimes because, obviously, war-crimes are bad. but he also worked to stop the war in order to PROTECT the soldjers that were still over there fighting, to bring them home.
I dont know why they dont just stick to the usual health care economy security mumbojumbo that elections are supposed to be about.
And vietnam pisses the fuck outta me. Fucking useless war. Fucking agent orange.
War is bad.
Oh, but what I was going to say originally... LOL... that ad thing is very smart. Not enough people take action. Most may be informed but choose to do nothing about it. Look at the patriot act... rights will be stripped from us left and right if everyone just silently disagreed. So really, i dont think it was a jab to any particular group of people. Just people in general need to step up.
I tried very hard to make that not-debateish... hope it worked!
