Y'know how everyone's going on about how Alfonso Cuaron has made Prisoner of Azkaban into this great and terrific masterpiece, and how this movie is just above and beyond fantastic?

...has anyone stopped to consider that the movie might be terrific because the book kicks ass?

I'm sure people have, and I don't mean to sound like I'm discrediting Cuaron--he's an amazing director and I'm INCREDIBLY happy he took over the reigns for the third movie. But maybe, just maybe, one of the main reasons the movie's so good is because the book is so good.

I don't think Jo Rowling gets enough credit for her story when they're put into movies. They are HER stories, after all, and at the end of the day all the cast, crew, director, producers, and screenwriters are doing is taking her wonderful story and turning it into a live-action film.

I just wish all these articles that are talking about how amazing the MOVIE is might mention the fact that this movie is based off of an astounding novel. I know it's insinuated and obvious to everyone who hasn't been living under a rock these past...what, six years now? Seven? It just bothers me a bit to know that she's being essentially shoved in the background when it comes to the movies. It's HER story.

...okay, sorry, I'll shut up now. :o)

Dad went out and got into college-mode today, which means I am now the proud owner (and assembler!) of a mini portable printer that is smaller than my laptop and a scanner that's thinner than my laptop and just about the same size length-wise. Both are portable and both will be utilized at U of Michigan and Maui.

Did I mention I got a single room? I don't know how that happened--practically every freshmen gets a double or a triple. I'm happy though...no roommate to deal with and I might actually get some work done.

The classes look amazing. They have one on TWINS and another on ALCOHOL. These are just the freshman semenairs though...I'm in pig heaven.

Also got the POA soundtrack today. Above and beyond what the other two were, and Francis is definitely getting an earful of "Double Trouble" (he's my Shakespeare teacher).

Right. Also started my Shakespeare final today...had to write summaries on Macbeth and Othello, two of the plays I didn't want to do (although I don't want to do Hamlet, either). Here's how it works: we have two days to write four summaries, and the first day three plays out of Macbeth, Hamlet, Taming of the Shrew, Midsummer Night's Dream, Much Ado About Nothing, and Othello are picked. Then, one is omitted. The next day, one is omitted from the three remaining plays.

Today Taming of the Shrew, Othello, and Macbeth were picked...of course the easiest of the three, Taming of the Shrew, was omitted. Tomorrow we have Hamlet, Much Ado About Nothing, and Midsummer Night's Dream...I'm really, really hoping Hamlet is omitted. It's a random thing--pick it out of a hat or whatever. Unfortunately, Francis seems to think that we NEED to do Hamlet. I'm of a different opinion; we should write summaries on two tragedies and two comedies. We did two tragedies today. We should do two comedies tomorrow.

We had about forty-five minutes to do this...I wrote nearly a thousand words on both in the alotted time. Scary, no? >.<

I also had my piano final today. THAT scared the hell out of me--I froze during Pachabel's Canon and didn't know what to do, and it took me about ten or fifteen seconds to get my act together. NOT good, but my other two songs were solid and I wasn't reading notes when I froze, and I think Mrs. D realized that.

Our last Writing Center day's tomorrow. Happy happy joy joy!

Gonna either go to bed or going to write some more of MK. Got halfway through Return of the King tonight, up to the spider *shudder* scene. I fell asleep during it though...so exhausted, I am.

Ciao,
