1. What did you do in 2003 that you'd never done before?
had fun with my (extended) family as an adult. Got braids (extensions) and LOVE them. Who is more cute than me with braids? (prolly plenty of folks, but fuck it, not in my own goddamned journal)

2. Did you keep your new years' resolutions, and will you make more for next year?
jesus almighty christ. Ask me another one, man. i was supposed to go on a profanity diet, but you see how fucking well that went.

dani! (and glo tho we’re not that close. ) lots of women at work. (don’t drink the water)

4. Did anyone close to you die?
uncle tom (never met him I don’t think, but he’s [was] gramp’s brother. I love all of my gramp’s family. From afar anywayz) I’m sure some other family members died that I never gave a shit about

5. What countries did you visit?
um LOL in reality? Nary a damned one. But in my mind… ah, t’is a diff thang. I did get to go back to Chicago this year. Which is kind of like a different country from Texas. I love Chi-town. I miss Chi-town. Ah... good times.

6. What would you like to have in 2004 that you lacked in 2003?
a cat. Debt free (HA). The ability to speak spanish fluently.

7. What date from 2003 will remain etched upon your memory, and why?
jesus. No dates ever stick in my mind. It’s just the way my memory works. I don’t remember days/dates. Just random events. Kind of. Man, did I trip out on acid or something and then forget about it? This could maybe explain my lack of memory for shit I really should remember! I remember the look on my mother’s face when the family started their bullshit. I remember the fun we had in North Carolina with the family before the family started their bullshit. (ok this year was ALL about the family)

8. What was your biggest achievement of the year?
taking a leap of faith and trusting my family. Then kicking said family to the curb when they fell waaaaaaaaaaaaaay short of deserving said leap of faith.

9. What was your biggest failure?
finances. Hands down. How friggn’ many NSF fees can one checking account stand?

10. Did you suffer illness or injury?
jacked up my knee earlier this year. Hurt like hell, poor me

11. What was the best thing you bought?
karaoke machine! Who can sing better than me?! (aw shut up)

12. Whose behavior merited celebration?
Barb’s. That chick is phenomenal.

13. Whose behavior made you appalled?
this is easy. Diane. Grandma. Ayesha. Cherry. Tracey. Triflin’ no good selfish backstabbing hurtful women all of ‘em. And I have their blood. The media, and how they’re treating Michael. Nothing new there.

14. Where did most of your money go?
fucking NSF fees. DVDs. Cds. Books. Makeup.

15. What did you get really, really, really excited about?
STAR WARS GALAXIES!!! Karaoke machine.

16. What song will always remind you of 2003?
too many to count. is this just a 'what song did you like most in '03' question disguised? i think so.
‘baby boy’/bouncy
‘angel’/some latina chick
‘love of my life’/badu (that was ’03, right?)
lots more…LOL milkshake/kellis

17. Compared to this time last year, are you:

*i. happier or sadder? I dunno… same, maybe? I’m always pretty happy this time of year.
*ii. thinner or fatter? LMAO fatter, baby. And proud of it. (ok, not really)
*iii. richer or poorer? Richer, actually. Maybe not materially, but I feel as if I have gained so much spiritually

18. What do you wish you'd done more of?
hanging out with friends. writing. Writing. Writing. Writing…

19. What do you wish you'd done less of?
TV watching. Um… feeling badly about how little I care about my family members. Um… daydreaming. Goofing off.

20. How will you be spending Christmas?
it’s over. I watched TV, felt badly about how little I care about my family members, daydreamed, and then goofed off. In exactly that order.

22. Did you fall in love in 2003?
no, sadly. What is this phenomenon called love. What does it taste like, what does it look like, what does it smell like. Can you hear it? Folks say you can feel it, but I dunno… I think it could be some mass hallucination that I am immune to.

23. How many one-night stands?
celibacy is a bitch sometimes.

24. What was your favorite TV program?
Alias. Half & Half. Girlfriends. Too goddamned many to name, and then I’d feel ashamed of how much TV I watch.

25. Do you hate anyone now that you didn't hate this time last year?
hate is a strong word. I don’t hate anyone, tho I say I do a lot. But I don’t really. I dislike the behavior of a whole bunch of folk. Grandma. Gramps. Aunts, uncles, cousins to name a few. I could say that I fucking hate George W Bush and mean every goddamned word of it, but I hated him last year too, so it wouldn't count.

26. What was the best book you read?
ever? VERITY- Brenda Jagger… of 2003? GOLDEN FOOL - Robin Hobb.. or how about the entire LEFT BEHIND series from J.B. Jenkins and T. Lahaye. Seriously life changing stuff. THE COMPLETE IDIOTS GUIDE TO UNDERSTANDING ISLAM is great, too. But um… I have yet to finish it. It makes me cry.

27. What was your greatest musical discovery?
Jaheim. Angie Stone. Justin Timberlake. SERIOUSLY. Um… John Mayer.

28. What did you want and get?
a new computer. Braids.

29. What did you want and not get?
a cat. Tattoos(yes plural). Out of debt. Tongue pierced. Kick ass home theatre system.

30. What was your favorite film of this year?
c’mon now. Attack of the Clones. (was that ’03?) Matrix pt2 Terminator 3 Deliver us from Eva. Drumline. Why do these questions always try to limit people to just one.

31. What did you do on your birthday, and how old were you?
I have no idea. I never remember my birthday. Or anyone elses for that matter. Um… dinner, maybe? Got drunk I’m sure. I was 27.

32. What one thing would have made your year immeasurably more satisfying?
I wish to hell I had finished my books. Or just one would have been nice, even.

33. How would you describe your personal fashion concept in 2003?
this is funny. Um… comfortable? Comfortable gets it, I think.

34. What kept you sane?
Barb. The Qu’ran. I’m a fucking liar. Maybe thinking about the Qu’ran, then.

35. Which celebrity/public figure did you fancy the most?
who did I ‘fancy’? lol who comes up with this stuff. Um… I FANCY a lot of people. The most? Michael Jackson, of course. There are others, but who could list them all. You know, I fell for a lot of white boys this year.

36. What political issue stirred you the most?
oh, politics. How about the war. How about the health care crisis. How about the hatred this country breeds like bacteria and regurgitates throughout the world.

37. Who did you miss?
My family. Balde. Paul. Chayo. Jen. Elijah. Billy. Granny. Michael (Underwood, not Jackson)

38. Who was the best new person you met?
this makes me smile. Kevin.

39. Tell us a valuable life lesson you learned in 2003:
when you get your ass kicked emotionally, you don’t clam up. You share. You grow. You expand. You find someone else to love. Just don’t hoard it all to yourself.

40. Quote a song lyric that sums up your year:

"Don’t you ever make no mistake, baby I got what it takes…and there’s no way you’ll ever get me. Why can’t you see, you will never ever hurt me, and I won’t let it be… cuz I’m too much for ya baby.” Michael, Invincible

“I ain’t scared of you bitches, I’ll put your brain in stitches… I ain’t never scared” Bone Crusher, motherfucka!

“…I don’t give a fuck. I’ma put it like this, you betta not walk in front of my tour bus! MOVE bitch! Get out the way!” Mystikal (and others)

end of year meme
