OK. Here's The Situation.

Apr 03, 2007 09:09

my parents went away on a week's vacation, and... they left the keys to the brand new Porsche! will they mind? hmmm... well... of COURSE not.

not of fan of Will Smith's all right, but good Lord, the man in I Robot. that body. just. sigh.

ok. i've decided to do a hair diary pictorial thingee. why? eh, why ask why?

most of y'all have seen these already. s'ok. some things bear repeating, namean? lol what a shallow chick i am. i should be working. but i'm not! ONWARD!

that's me. duh. relaxed hair, no dye. pretty boring. basic. blah. Jess mslyrical1. Inga-licious ycantijusbe (who comes here on Friday from Dallas! yay!!!) Marq rhoyalblu (who i so need to call. it's been 2 weeks, i think.) and Amber. we were at a MOJOE performance, September, 2004. yay MOJOE! k. moving on.

right before i moved to Laca, i decided to chop it all off. still relaxed. red streaks. it looks like crap in the photo, but when i worked with it, i loooooooooooved it. loooooooooooooved it, i said.

that's Bru of the DMP, November 2004. he's much cuter than in this picture with the Charlie Brown shirt. i mean, forreal, Mike, WTF. i'd show you how truly hot he is, but this is about me, duh. moving right along.

i decided to let me hair grow again. mainly because i was too lazy to maintain it while it was short short. i loved it at this length. the red streaks had faded to a kind of amber/bronze/bullshit non-maintained color. but still, not so bad. Jody Watley/J-Lo earrings! ah... the good old days. that was what, Jan, Mar of 2005 methinks.

July, 2005. B's 51st birthday. still relaxed but growing fairly nicely. me and Mama went to see Smokey Robinson! she touched him! damned near yanked him off the stage. awesome, man.

right. so then i got the BRILLIANT idea to go natural. it wasn't really a conscious choice. more of a lack of funds to go to the salon choice. by the time i had the money, again, i was already 4 months out and i was curious as to how natural would be. so, pretty much i twisted my hair up everyday in a throwback to a hairstyle i used to wear as a teenager. in this pic you can see where the natural curl hits the straight, relaxed hair. interesting.

exactly one year later, July 2006, B's 52nd birthday.

and this is a pic from the infamous Bridal Shower for Nikki. my hair was actually cute earlier that night, but um. well, being molested by a sweaty stripper and imbibing lots of gin will generally jack a sister's hair up.

September, 2006 still transitioning. as it grew, i just cut off the straight ends a little at a time. lots of maintainence. i'se getting mighty tired of it right about then.

which brings us to... today. or last Friday. these are the pics from our little adventure with the Dynasty Bar. my hair is mostly natural now, only pressed out. about a 1/4 of the top is still relaxed. i lurve it. when it's not pressed out, it's still up in twists. because i'm lazy. i could do braids or like, i dunno, afro puffs, but that is so not me. and no, Li aliyad, you will never see me with an afro with a pick sticking up from it. so do.not.ask.again.

ewwwww... cat daddy. he literally just jumped into the picture.

lil' sweaty. i was so ready to go.

drunk. that's Mai's sister on the left. i do not even know this woman's name. sad.

putting a choke hold on Babs. poor kid. this is what happens when i get all lovey dovey and crap.

sister, me (kind of, lol), and the faaaaaaaabulous Mai.

k. c'est tout!

damn. that was enough, wasn't it?!

pics, hair, maisha
