Song Meme
1. Dirty Dream Number 2: Belle and Sebastien
I'm lucky, I can open the door and I can walk down the street
Unlucky, I've got no place to go and so I follow my feet
A choice is facing you, a healthy dose of pain
A choice is facing you as you stare through the rain
A choice is facing you but I choose to refrain for today
Tomorrow we'll be back in trouble again
2. Casey Jones: The Grateful Dead
This was the first song that I ever memorized the lyrics to and it is still one of my favorite songs
Trouble ahead, Lady in red,
Take my advice you'd be better off dead.
Switchman's sleeping, train hundred and two is
On the wrong track and headed for you.
Driving that train, high on cocaine,
Casey Jones YOU BETTER, watch your speed.
Trouble ahead, YOU KNOW, trouble behind,
And you know that notion just crossed my mind.
Trouble with you is the trouble with me,
Got two good eyes but WE still don't see.
Come round the bend, you know it's the end,
The fireman screams and the engine just gleams...
3. Breakfast at Tiffany's: Um... I don't know who sang it originally
You say, we've got nothing in common,
No common ground to start from,
And we're falling apart,
You'll say, the world has come between us,
Our lives have come between us,
Still I know you just don't care.
And I said, "What about 'Breakfast at Tiffany's?'"
She said, "I think I remember the film,
And as I recall, I think, we both kind of liked it."
And I said, "Well that's, the one thing we've got."
I see you,the only one who knew me,
And now your eyes see through me,
I guess I was wrong,
So what now? It's plain to see we're over,
And I hate when things are over,
When so much is left undone.
4. Jonathan: Children of the Revolution
One of my favorite bands of all time. This is their most pop-like song but I still love it.
Jonathan tried
he tried to touch the sun
when he was much to young
and it always had to rain
such a shame to
never get that far
Jonathan woke up but everything had changed
the world had gone insane but he'd been left behind
and then he spoke up
said this is out of hand now
I'm gonna take another road
cuz this one's closed,
5. Just a Small Circle of Friends: Phil Oakes
Because it is politicaly savvy and cynical at the same time and we need more songs like that. I wish I had lived in the 60's
Look outside the window
there's a woman being grabbed
they've dragged her to the bushes
and no she's being stabbed
Maybe we should call the cops
And try to stop the pain
but Monopoly is so much fun
and I'd hate to blow the game
And I'm sure it wouldn't interest anybody
outside of a small circle of friends
6. Poisoning pigions in the Park: Tom Lerher
I grew up listening to Tom Leher (which probably explains alot)and this is a classic
All the world seems in tune on a spring afternoon when we're poisoning pigeons in the park
Every sunday you'll see my sweetheart and me when we're poisoning pigeons in the park
When they see us coming the birdies all try and hide
but they still go for peanuts when coated with cyanide
The sun's shining bright everything seems alright
when we're poisoning pigeons in the the park
lalala.....
We've gained noterity and caused much anxiety in the Audobon Society with our games
They call it impiety and lack of propriety and pleanty of other unpleasent names
but it's not against any religion to want to dispose of a pigeon
And a bonus one cuz lily only did five even though she meant to do this one
7. A Quien le Importa: Alaska
Babelfish it if you have to. It was the Spanish gay anthem of the 80's.
Yo soy as, y as seguir
Nunca cambiare
I have no idea who's already done this so I'll tap a bunch of people
