Brief Canada update

Mar 15, 2008 23:41

Canada is cold, but the people are nice. Every waitress I've met has called me "honey".

Becoming accustomed to snow covering the ground happens very quickly.

I made my pilgrimage to the two Tesla statues here. One was very easy to reach, and one was very hard, since it was on top of a very steep hill covered in a foot of snow topped with an inch of hard ice. It's very scary to climb said hill with all of your expensive camera gear strapped around your body and the knowledge that, in the very likely case that you should slip and fall from the hill, you will be hit by a car. However, as scalpel said at the time, if reaching the man on the mountain was easy and safe, everyone would visit him. It makes it feel more like a real pilgrimage.

I'm having a good time at CAINE, and I'm glad that we chose this as our big con for the year. Shy little Val even made a new friend, one who distinctly resembles Death.

We should be home tomorrow night.
