last night i saw
kill your idols, which seems to compare a lot of the new york no wave scene around the late 70's-early 80's and the music scene around '00-nowish that i jumped into maybe early on? no idea when it really started or how long that lasted.
anyway, the pioneers of the no wave scene would, of course, not like the now bands much at all. i could understand, but it doesn't bother me, much, because i've had fun at these shows. except, they were comparing the more popular bands like yeah yeah yeahs, the strokes, and other bands that get thrown into magazines and sell music to commercials and crap like 5 months after they begin. i'm not too familiar with those. they are too fast for me to even bother. what's weird in the film is the choices of what bands they were comparing.
