Peter Bishop: the loveliest fellow you're not speaking to at the moment

Dec 04, 2010 22:51

I have been meaning to talk about this since the news broke - Fringe to move to Friday nights. I'm sure all that can be said has been: Friday is where shows go to die, but The X-Files survived there, and Fringe is so X-Files it hurts. In a good way. I have heard the ratings are not great, which is astounding to me. It is a brilliant show, and I'm not telling anyone what to do, but, if you're not watching it, you're missing out. One might even say, "I feel bad for you, son." if one were so inclined. Um.

1. VAGENDA.

2. Peter didn't know. Hence, the subject line.

3. Emmys to Anna Torv and Lance Reddick tout suite, please. The scene with Olivia and Other Broyles in the holding cell was nothing short of outstanding. And when Olivia emerged from the immersion tank? Not even going to lie, there were tears.

4. I am not entirely sure how I feel about Bolivia potentially having feelings for Peter or vice versa. No, actually, I am: As much as I understand it, I don't like it. I hope it doesn't become some weird love triangle thing.

5. The Peter/Olivia scene in the hospital at the end reminded me a lot of the end of "One Breath" (X-Files, season two). When Olivia was talking about how Peter saved her life, it made me think of Scully saying, "I had the strength of your beliefs." And, of course, Peter's determined pursuit of Olivia ("No, I’m going to get answers. And if I find out you’ve done anything to Olivia, then I’m going to kill you.") called to mind one Mr. Fox Mulder. Would Mulder have been able to tell the difference between his Scully and one from an alternate universe? Peter, Peter, Peter. Things will be broken for a while now, I suspect.

6. RIP Other Broyles. I knew you were done for when you helped our Olivia. You were awesome. I'll miss you. (And your tight t-shirts. Just saying.)
