soon my academic tenure will come to an end, but from without to within, it has congealed with my own latent preference systems into a iron-rod base and direction for my future endeavours and musings. i like that this world of people fashioned by people themselves can reflect back to us all our highest accomplishments and our worst selves; the greatest ideals and the ugliest truths.
men make their own history, but they do not make it just as they please;
they do not make it under circumstances chosen by themselves,
but under circumstances directly encountered, given and transmitted from the past.

theres goes your glorious conception of being totally individualistic, completely independent from pressure, whether of peer or of the very place and time youre bound to. your choices are laid out for you by your circumstances, and know or like it (or not), the winds of society blow your decisions one way or the other. be thus not arrogant nor self- absorbed, for it is a matter of survival and non-ignorance that you look up and observe the slip streams of time around us.
