entirely in black/white. a complete delight gulping up the trippy dialogue from start to end.
havent had such fun listening to a movie, since.. 'twelve angry men', 'before sunset', 'seinfeld (not a movie)'.
"I had a mad impulse to throw you down on the lunar surface and commit interstellar perversion."

and perhaps its apt the movie ends with isaac rejected, dejected, in a twist of his own making, the next step completely (and frustratingly for the audience) uncertain.

surfing the velvet folds of visuals; body language sans speech really does suffice. *blink*.

kevin kline and denzel washington- when the suspension of reality is so solidly grounded, theres a certain gravitas. combine with clean, tidy handling of charged subject matter (black man silenced. white man gagged. apartheid.)- this is documentary education and artistic escape.

cultural relativism :. strange beliefs do not imply irrationality, merely the outsider not understanding, not yet privy to the mechanics of that system of belief. each a framework for making tangible and functionable the world. science too is a cultural system. science only validates/ falsifies, never proving nor disproving. its not necessarily a mirror of the ultimate truth.

the final idea, was a jolt. not that it hasnt been hanging in the back, but to be reminded that the most careful reasoned logic may not scrap the truth, that laws may not be attached to truth-
