My sword, my shield

(This isn't related to heehaw_tng, not really, so do me a favor and stow any comments on that. It's a bit rude of me to say, but I do hate how any kind of introspection can be taken to mean there's relationship problems.)

So anyway, I was just thinking today about how men have this need to protect women. Which is fine if you're a caveman and a bear is attacking your family, the man is bigger and stronger and stands a better chance in a fight. It makes perfect sense when it comes down to physical strength.

But what I've found, in my experience, is that men also try to protect women in other situations. Like they try to protect women from having their feelings hurt, which is just silly, because women are supposed to be the more empathetic ones with the healthier emotional spectrum. Basically, we're supposed to be stronger emotionally. And yet men still try to protect us, I guess because crying is weak and women cry so women must be weak? It's ridiculous.

Anyway, I just find it funny, and infuriating. Look, if I get attacked by a bear, yes, please protect me with your big manly muscles. But when someone is being a big meanie or something sad is happening, dude, just step back, I totally got this.

women, men
