I was wondering. Is anyone here particularly faithful? And by 'faithful', I, of course, mean devout or religious. I would be interested in discussion the idea of faith and how it differs from world to world.

Well, that's actually an interesting question, don't you think? I'm not sure most religions accept Tachikoma! Of course, an alternate meaning might be...

[beat]

Hey, can you clarify? What do you mean, exactly, by 'devout?'

Of course I think so; that is why I asked!

By devout, I mean that you are a firm believer and practice observing your faith regularly.

A believer in what, exactly? Are we talking about God again? I thought we had this all settled!

In addition, what constitutes a religion in the first place? "Faith" is a pretty nebulous term, you know!

Yes, we are talking about God again.

[And with that, there is the sound of pages being turned before-]

Religion; a set of beliefs concerning the cause, nature, and purpose of the universe, especially when considered as the creation of a superhuman agency or agencies, usually involving devotional and ritual observances, and often containing a moral code governing the conduct of human affairs.

Or perhaps this definition will suit you better.

Religion; something one believes in and follows devotedly; a point or matter of ethics or conscience.

Did that answer your question?

Oooohhhh.... I'm not sure about that. Isn't the concept of God closer to mimetic symbolism than an independent consciousness? I don't really understand all this supernatural stuff. You'd do better asking Max or Conan, if either of them shows up.

[It is to ponder. Loudly. HMMMMMMMMMM]

But, there is one thing all Tachikoma believe in, no matter what! f one of us disagreed on this point they'd....they wouldn't even be Tachikoma anymore!

I believe it started as an independent thought, but became horribly diluted as the idea was passed from hand to hand and culture to culture.

[A pause and the sound of clinking china.]

What is the one thing Tachikoma believe in?

The Major, of course! She's really much more than human, you know. Even when everything else fails, she's always there. Even though she can seem scary sometimes, she's actually incredibly even-handed and an extremely good judge of any and every situation.

She's always backed us up before, when it really mattered, and we're more than happy to end our existance to keep her safe and happy, Even though sometimes that might mean maybe doing something we're not suppossed to.

It is the solemn duty of every Tachikoma to cheerfully support her in every way possible.

Eh? No it doesn't! It's a paramilitary unit!

[Tachikoma pride exacerbated! >B[]

We're special ops, don't treat us like some run-of-the-mill group of crazy people!

How was I to know? You have to understand that in my world, there are a great deal of cults and they are all rather fanatical. Forgive me if I offended.

Devotion to duty isn't the same as fanaticism.

[so prim! No annoyed! Hmpf. Isabella you have some points to make up, that's for sure.]

The humans of my world tend to lack a devotion to duty. Forgive me for not recognizing the difference. I apologize, once again.
