Here's my newest addition to the family hanging out in the sun. I know it's not a great picture, but the sun is bright behind her. Either way, it's uncanny how much she looks like my cat, even though the coloring and markings are different. I'll hear one of the cats doing something and turn to look and think it's Billie when it's the new cat. (as I ( Read more... )

How far outside the litterbox?

Do you have two boxes, or still just one? It could be a territory issue.

It's not a territory issue. It's a problem she had with her original owner, apparently. I tried to never get my cat used to one litter, one food, etc etc because I switch stuff around a lot. She did, I think, and when she tried to change it futzed her all up. She went on my bathmat, my kitchen rug, a towel that had fallen on the bathroom floor, the freaking scratching post carpeted bottom, and she LIKED the damned post, too. I covered the bottom in febreeze and baking soda and I'm leaving it on the deck for a few days to see if the smell gets out. If not, it's trash. It was expensive but I cannot abide the smell of animal urine anywhere in the house ( ... )

I have stuff you can use on the post, it's called Nature's Miracle, it's meant for getting cat-bathroom smells off things they shouldn't be on, to discourage the cat(s) from giong there again.

If you don't have time to meet up this week, you should be able to find it at most petstores.

I used to have it, long ago when I had a dog with a very sensitive stomach. The problem is the base is wood, as well, and if the smell has soaked into there...I don't know if it is going to work.
