The clouds begin to thicken up

Yes, I am excited about yesterday's election results bt did notice something as the day went on. I've sen the elcetion bring out some great things in people. It's been amazing to see all the people that wanted to vote especially my students. I did notice as the day went on that some folks were sore losers and sore winners.

I went to school yesterday morning and I was proud of my country. (I still am) Yet I kept overhearing things like Fuck the Crackers and It's a black house now! One of my studnts sent me a text message that he got . It said to drink plenty of soda because there was going to be some salty crackers. I wasn't just a black thing. I heard a few white based comments too. sadly enough, i have this little redneck girl in my history class and she was pretty upset because of all the comments thrown at her. She was mad because her family had voted for O- too.

I guess in one way we have come pretty far. To be able to elect a black president in such record numbers says a lot of positive things abut the country. Unfortunately, some of the ignorance still has to float to the top to remind us that stupidity never seems to go away. One of my students exclaimed,"Finally I have a president." I looked at him and replied, "No, WE have a president. "

Fight the power.
