I stayed up later than I should have watching the bootleg new Doctor Who DVD's that
bitterlies left over here last Summer. The aforementionned new DVD Player handled them just fine.

It's got some rough spots, sure. Find me a first-season (OK, season 27, for anyone who's counting, but after a 10-15 year hiatus)that doesn't. It was modern, and more "real" in terms of portraying the way people might react to Time Travel, Aliens, etc. Yet, it still grounded itself sufficiently in the series mythology and feel to make it true to its roots. By my count Christopher Eggleston was Dr. Number Nine. That's getting uncomfortably close to The Valliard/Evil-Doctor-Number-Twelve that we met in Colin Baker's run. I hope they've got the balls to run with that when the time comes.
Perhaps The Master the will appear in Season 28. I can dream.
