It's been so long!

Ok this is a general update...

I think I last left you guys when Steve and I were randomly in Dayton, OH. Well, we took the 3hr bus to Detroit (soooo ghetto) and luckily Northwest Airlines had already rebooked us all. So Steve and I grabbed our tickets from the counter, handed them our luggage and - as they told us - literally ran across the 3 mile long airport. Those moving sidewalks come in so handy!
We caught our small flight and made it home for around 11:30 - our original flight would have had us home around 3:30, but what're you gonna do?
Our luggage, however, didn't get to us for a couple days after that.

Steve took the Monday off since we didn't get home till nearly midnight and a whole day of travelling really knocks you off your feet for a while.
I had the whole week off from work since my bosses (husband and wife) were on vacation and didn't want the vets that came in for exams only to teach me things and then they'd have to unteach me. So I got a week off. Yay.

I've now had two weeks of work or, er, sort of. I worked Mon-Wed a couple weeks ago and then got sick. By the end of my Wed shift I was ready to pass out, had a fever and was weak everywhere. All night my temp rose and the next morning I called into work with a fever of 104.9F. I also had intermittent chills and cold shakes so bad that my body felt like it was convusling and my back and stomach muscles were constantly contracted and slightly spasming.
My parents were in London (Ont) to see my brother for the week and weren't to be back till the weekend.
I went to the doctor that afternoon. My temp had dropped to 101-ish and I wasn't so weak and lethargic. All he said was I was to take some Advil/Tylenol for my fevers b/c I'm fighting something off. And to go back to him when I have other symptoms (aka. coughing, vomiting, sore throat, etc). I left and was soon pissed at my wasted doctor's appt. since I'd already been taking Advil. He couldn't have sent me for blood tests or ANYthing??
I popped by a grocery store to buy a jar of apple sauce and pea soup and in there I started shaking from the sheer cold of the place. By the time I got home I was shivering and teeth chattering on the couch and the constant jolting of my body made me throw up my measly lunch of crackers and pb from 2hrs previous.
Advil will save me, eh doc?

ANYway. Still wasn't better by Friday, but my temp had gone down to 99.8F by the evening and so I felt better enough to join Steve, his brother and fiancé (yay for a wedding next year!!) at their parent's cottage.
BAD idea. I was sick the whole time and barely got to do anything fun. I mostly slept, sweat RIDICULOUSLY at night (I mean... we had to hang the bedding so it could dry each morning) and only went out with them in the boat once.
Got back Monday and went out to my grandpa's birthday dinner with my family. I barely made it through that and went to bed around 8. My parents and brother went up to the cottage and have been there ever since. They're due back in an hour or so. I sweat more than I ever had before in my life that night and didn't go into work either Tues or Wed this past week. Not the greatest impression in your first two weeks.
I worked one work week in two weeks - Mon-Wed and Thu-Fri. At least I get some pay for the holiday Monday! And no, I didn't mention it to anyone at work about going to Steve's cottage... no matter how sick I was there I doubt it would have impressed any of them to know I went.

So here I am now. I'm alone since Julie left only 20 minutes ago or so with Emilio. I was cat sitting and she and I spent the afternoon/evening together shopping, eating and watching some of the Olympics.
I really only like the swimming, diving and some of the gymnastics for the summer games. I'm much more into the winter games - hockey (obviously), anything snowboarding, most skiing, figure skating... so much more fun!

I wish I could go to the Vancouver games in 2010. If only I had the massive $$ to get a hotel there and see the opening ceremony. I doubt we'll beat the beauty of Beijing, but it should still be something to see.

Oh! And I have more kittens - of course! I these will be my last for at least a little while. It's hard to have a social life when you have to constantly be home with them on the weekends. I can only ask my parents to watch them so often, seeing as they're my responsibility and I choose to keep taking them on...

Here're some pics - I haven't taken any in a while cause they've been ill and looking very sickly! In fact, since typing that I just went on a photo binge.

There are only two kittens - one boy and one girl. The girl (grey&white) was sick for a while but she's on the mend... you'll be able to tell she's been snotty for a while.

Their first minute in my house...

The girl is Madeleine (Maddie) and the boy is Jack.

Maddie had a scuff on her nose at first, but that's cleared up now

Jack looks a little like Jeckyl with the white pendant, but it's very small.

This is how little they were when I first got them at 4-5 wks old!

I jokingly put Maddie in my tank top (built-in bra = built-in bed!)

... and she loved it

This is Jack's mugshot

I love this one cause it looks like her face got smooshed real good!

But she's really just behind the scratch post.

Maddie's a lovebug

Whereas Jack's a little bugger

They're a neat little bunch though and we all enjoy them very much!

I've had them for about, uh, 2 weeks. Just over... so they're about 7 weeks old or something. It's actually 10:30 PM right now and I've already brushed my teeth and am nearly ready for bed. Hopefully I have a full work week ahead of me! Oh - going to go watch Phelps win his second gold medal ;) It's ridiculous. If I was competing against him I'd just be happy to make it in the water, lol!

I'll hopefully do a bit of catch up on the friends list - I've been awfully bad with that for the past... geez, 10 mos minimum??

Hopefully I'll be chatting with you guys soon!

♥ Jen
