Title: Silence is Golden
Wordcount: 200
Fandom: Anita Blake
Challenge: #56 Proverbs
Summary: Anita babysits Spike
Disclaimer: Not mine. Even though the thought of Spike all chained up and helpless is appealing.
Notes: No real spoilers, but set during season 7 of Buffy.

Xander entered the basement to be greeted by Anita's usually bout of yelling. He was expecting it. Anita was always yelling at someone for something, and he'd left her half an hour ago to watch Spike, who was chained up and spouting some kind of nonsense about killing them all when he left.
"How exactly did I get stuck babysitting Billy Idol here? Do you realize he never shuts up?"
She glared at him, hands on her hips, the anger he had grown used to rolling off of her in waves in the stony silence. Wait a minute. Silence?
"I don't hear anything, so Spike must have given up him whining at some point. How did you ever manage that?"
She actually looked at her feet an smiled a bit.
"You know how they say 'speech is silver, silence is golden'? Well, I've got a foot note for ya. Duct tape is silver."
Xander looked over to where Spike was chained, sitting on the floor, several layers of duct tape over his mouth, and burst out laughing. When he noticed Anita's raise eyebrow and mischievous smile, he choked out a verbal reply.
"I can't believe we never thought of that."

Title: An Ounce of Prevention
Wordcount:
Fandom: Batman
Challenge: #56 Proverbs
Summary: Xander finds someone who agrees with him about Angel
Disclaimer: Not mine. Just playing with them a bit.
Notes: FFA Pairing # Xander/Alfred

Buffy was gonna kill him, he knew it. Of course, if he was gonna have to hide for the rest of his life, he could think of worse places than Bruce Wayne's mansion. And really, he didn't see Buffy even looking anywhere near Gotham for him. He only found out about his uncle a few months ago, and there had been so much focus on the next apocalypse that he never found the time to tell even Willow.
"It's not like I planned on it Uncle Alfred. But I saw the way Angel and Cordy looked at each other. And I just got this feeling like a knife in my gut."
"I understand my boy, you care for the girl, yes?"
"Yeah, I do, but it wasn't jealousy. If it were any other guy I'd have been happy for her. But I just kept thinking about what happened before. Loving Buffy made him lose his soul and start killing people. I just kept thinking of all those people he killed back then, and next I knew my crossbow fired and he was dust."
"I don't blame you, Alexander. After all, an ounce of prevention is worth a pound of cure."
