I was just playing poker over at free-bwin and I went from 150 chips to winning it. I think this was more than just luck, though I did rely on it in key moments to win. It wasn't just skill. And, that's the whole point of pot odds: based on what's on the table and your hand is it worth betting? A better definition is probably: the ratio of your chance to winning versus what you have to invest through calling/betting.

Isn't that how life is? How do we determine how we invest our time, money, and effort?

I think we are all just playing the odds...
