overseas...

I am so desperate for a getaway anytime this year. the problem is, no one can confirm whether they want to go. i know it is kind of hard to decide now for a year end trip, but seats are getting chopped up quickly and we might not be able to get a seat.

tee and i was talking abt cairns. looking at airfare and accomodation, still manage to find rather budget ones. but checking out the expenses there, i was shocked. a snorkelling tour at the great barrier reef costs more than A$100. i dunno if there are cheaper options, just browsing thru the net only. and i can't rent a car there as i am not 21 yet. also, i doubt i wld be able to get my license by then. perhaps i shld opt for a nearer and cheaper option. bangkok? hong kong? not hk i guess. most likely going there for CNY with my family.

talking about family trips, it's just not as fun as it wld be when with friends. with family, i cannot do anything i want. go anywhere i want. i also find tour trips a bore. though it is convenient, but rushing through all the tourist attraction is just duh. i wld prefer to take my own sweet time and visit all the places i want to go, and slowly savour the sights and sounds of the place. though one have to keep finding their way around, i think i shld be ok with tat as i am naturally inclined towards reading maps and finding places! haha. and i dun like shopping at places where the tour guide brings us to. things are just too over priced. i was never tempted to buy anything the tour guide recomends. it is just a rip off. good tour guides will suck you up and keep telling u to buy this buy that and then laugh their heads off when they get their commision. like when i went to korea, i told my mum not to buy the ginseng, she say aiya nvm lah. come all the way here buy a bit lah. and the bloody thing costs close to $400!!! and now it is rotting away in my fridge. yes, tourists money are way too easy to con.
